Hey It's what us poor folks can afford.  Ground chuck for poor folks, steak chunks for rich folks.

I will admit I put a little to much tomato juice in it this time.  Just means I can add more crackers in my bowl.

If you are poor and cannot afford proper meat, then YES, beans is a perfectly acceptable meat substitute

It's not that you cannot use beans in chili, it's that you should try to avoid it, if at all possible.

I don't see any peppers, do you? So it's bland bean soup.

No, that would make something like Skyline. Which is also really good, BTW.

Skyline is to chili, what Taco Bell is to Mexican. In other words, "it ain't", but we still love it. Whatever it is.

That's bean soup with hamburger.

This is Chili, sport:

Notice the big chunks of pork? Chili has no hamburger.

See how the pureed chili pods are added? That's not tomatoes....it's chilis.

This, sir, is chili. Notice the complete lack of beans?

I know y'all Yakees think that ketchup, hamburger, a teaspoon of Mexana and some beans is chili......don't make it so.
