watching the walking dead marathon, there's an ad for the new dodge ram truck with "air suspension" that raises and lowers the truck. it raises the truck to clear obstacles and lowers the truck to "decrease drag"...

really? does a monster 4x4 pickup truck travel at such high speed it needs to worry about drag from wind resistance? i thought spoilers on regular street cars was asinine, but this takes the cake!

Also needs LCD spinners and Low Rider music in the back ground.

Anything with the wind resistance of a brick wall can benefit from being lower to the ground at speeds over 60mph.

Aerodynamic drag accounts for MOST of the fuel consumed at highway speeds.

We test drove a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had this feature and I could definately tell the difference at highway speeds.  A really cool option for off-roading.  Stance looks cool too when parked.  Don't know how practical on a truck though.

Audi had it on the allroad quattro.

My friend's Land Rover does that. He lowered it to pull into a parking garage and I laughed at him

most people never take them off a short gravel path or haul anything more than a few bags of fetilizer at home depot, so is the entire truck really needed anyways?

If you want a truck, get a fucking truck. Carry shit in it. Use it like a truck. If you want a fucking douchemobile, get a fucking prius.

Want better fuel mileage? See above.

That will be usefull for all the dumbfuck redenecks that drive them like they are a Ferrari at 2x the speed limit in town.

Because they sure as shit dont ever haul anything in them with their 26" wheels, truck nuts, browning stickers, and custom painted tonneau covers.

If it gets 3 MPG better mileage, it is worth it.

Actually, most of your engine's power is used overcoming drag. So it *could* help fuel economy, if just a bit.
