| So I'm here in Michigan for Thanksgiving and I was able to pick up some Dogfish Head 60 and 90 Minute since Arfcom speaks so highly of it. While it is a tasty brew, it's got nothing on our local Oregon beer. IPA's are my favorite beer, lately I've been drinking a lot of Apocalypse, Total Domination, and Chasin' Freshies. I've never been able to find the Dogfish Head IPA's locally, but now that I've had it, it's nothing special. Kind of like the Yuengling that everyone speaks so highly of. Now I've done it, talked shit about Arfcom's 2 favorite beers! |

IPA's were originally created super hoppy to cover the taste of the spoiled beer.
IPA = India Pale Ale. It was Ale shipped to the British troops stationed in India. The beer would spoil during the long, hot trip by sea. The extra hops helped hold down the spoilage and cover the bad taste. Really. I am not overly fond of IPA's.

Had myself some MI beers today. Bells Kallamazoo Stout and an Expedition Stout,
also by Bells. IPAs are hit and miss with me. If they are not fresh, they lose flavor, and if they taste like your chewing on a pinecone, forget about it. The last decent IPA I had was Big Edy, I think by Lienenkugel. It's not thier wannabe craft beers, but actually a pretty good beer. |
