Dan Wesson Valor. First new 1911 in years (last was a Colt Combat Commander). Began looking for a SA Loaded model and gradually progressed to this. The wet spots are from the still drying BreakFree. Tool steel internals. No MIM parts!

Dan Wessons are a fine firearm.  I think the best balance of refinement to cost.  Yes, Nighthawk, Ed B, and others have similar guns that cost MUCH more, but I feel that their improvments over DW are not always worth the expenditure, unless you simply want the absolute pinnacle of 1911.  eg.  Nissan GT-r or Corvette Z06  vs. Ferrari / Aston Martin.

Dan Wesson makes damn nice 1911's, I have two and want a third. I was concerned after CZ bought them, but they were smart and didn't mess with success and I think actually improved the guns over the originals.

Very nice.  Is the extractor made of spring steel?

Maybe you should install walnut double diamond style stocks.   It is good to know that someone makes a 1911 out of proper materials.

Also have to add that it has an amazing trigger. And I really like the Heinie sights and lack of ambi safety (not a lefty so I don't need it). I'll see how it performs but until then, I have nothing bad to say. Great gun.

If I was looking for a very similar gun. What should I expect to pay? I am looking for my first 1911.

Locally... Basic Dan Wessons will be a bit north of the 1k mark to start.

I want a 4.25" bobtail DW.

For this model, generally in the $1800 range, give or take.
