I am looking at a new diesel pickup. All makers for 2013 use Diesel exhaust fluid for the EPA exhaust requirements. My question is. What kind of sicko thinks pissing in a bucket adding deionized water to it then injecting that in diesel exhaust will actually work Who thinks up this stuff? Yes I know the science., Who thinks up this stuff? Oh yea, it reduces the mileage, so you have to burn more fuel to get to where you are going causing more exhaust than you would in the first place.I buy a new truck every 10 yrs and it is time. |

Thats why you go out and buy a pre-emissions truck. Thats why I love my 97 7.3. |

Its to reduce Nitrious emissions. Not carbon. Thats taken care of by the DPF system in your truck.
Who thinks it up? Politicians who listen to environmental extremists. If you think its bad, wait until you find out that the biggest sources of emissions (China, Tibet, and other so called 'LRC' - Lesser regulated countries) are exempt from the same standards the US and Europe are. Essentially, we're hamstringing our economy and making it less and less competitive because of some feel good bullshit. Nothing makes me chuckle harder than seeing a Tier 4 Final emissions compliant Bulldozer. Its a 'green' destroyer of rainforests! Its also pretty funny knowing a 132 ton Bulldozer is has less of an environmental impact than a fucking Toyota Prius. My suggestion? Buy a used 2002 model. Delete the DPF. And then take care of it. |

Started my new railroad job this year. One of the first days, as we're getting the truck ready, one of the guys says "Hey, new guy, top off the exhaust fluid". I immediately say back "I'm new, I'm not an idiot!" Foreman interrupts: "Yes you are, go downstairs and get the blue DEFshit and put it in that blue tube".
Exhaust fluid. Who Knew? I have been looking for the blinker fluid ever since....

| just get a pre-ban diesel! lol. seriously tho ive worked on class 8 diesels my whole life, nothing but problems with these new emmission vehicles, be warned, stay away from them! contaminated dpf, doc and scr modules are huge $ to replace if they fail outside of warranty. |

Luckily they removed the requirement for them from Emergency Apparatus. Nothing like having the damn fire engine shut down enroute because you run out of diesel fuel How about changing a pumper out because the last guy did not filled it up after the previous call.
