Opening day in Missouri and I'm bored as hell. Give some stories from today or in the past. I saw an 8pt first thing this morning but couldn't get a shot off.

Didn't go, Let the younger ones have the good spots opening morning to be excited about.  I have killed a trainload of deer and prefer bacon and beef at this stage of life.

I will go later, maybe take a day off this week when no bodies hunting at the family farm.

My nephew killed a 130-140 class 8 pointer last weekend during youth season.   He was all smiles.     And dad was proud of his shot placement.

Already had our season. Hunted for10 days straight and didn't see a legal deer during daylight. Pine forest that hadn't had rain in over 3 months. It was like walking on bubble wrap.

I went for years by myself looking all over and no luck.  Ran into a local young kid on a hunting site that wanted a partner.  He loved to hunt and showed me his spot in this valley.  Been getting one every year for the past 10 years since then.  It's a honey hole.  I sit on this ridge and they come from 4 directions.  Only problem is it's a mile walk from the road and a hell of a drag out.

He does more bow hunting now than anything else because he has a small parcel of land now that is bow only and nobody goes there.  He gets 4 bow tags and fills them every year.  I'm now back to hunting alone, but if I need help dragging I call him and he comes to help and I do the same for him.  I don't like the walk in the woods at 4am with a back pack and gun and flashlight but when that sun comes up and the deer appear all over, there is nothing like it.

I like hunting with other people better than hunting alone. I like golfing alone, better than golfing with other people. I'll do both either way, yet the hunting alone always brings out the pucker factor. I hunt in yote and boar territory that is loaded with poisonous snakes. I am much more observant when I am alone while hunting. I carry a large knife, a handgun on the hip and my rifle. If I get in a thicket, the handgun comes out.

I miss hunting with my son.

Hunting with a group is the whole reason I enjoy hunting. All the guys come down on Friday and drink beers and bs about who knows what. Then we go hunting on Saturday and Sunday and share our stories. If I didn't have a group I probably would not be as into hunting as I am. Well gents, I got an 8 pt this morning that barely hangs out past his ears. I have rack envy from the poster above that is for sure.

We're in MO,  I've been hunting the last two days and saw only one doe in an area I know their are two eight pointers and one ten pointer.

Sounded like a war zone in our area yesterday. Went out twice and the only thing we saw was a coyote. Damn thing was trying to corner our cows. Husband tried to shoot him but he was just too fast. Hopefully we can go again Thursday afternoon and every day this coming weekend. Btw, this is my first year hunting. Pretty excited.
