I'm not sure I understand your point. The first picture comparison to pre civil war America. I think that is saying the south has always been reluctant to change. As far as the south voting democrat. It seems to be an unknown fact that before the 60's much of the south voted Democrat.

This, people don't understand the party political platforms from that long ago are so different that, effectively, the two parties have switched names when compared to today's parties.

If you post the county-by-county results, there is a whole lot of red in every state. That indicates that their association of red states with the civil war is 107% twatwafflery and 3% dildoes.
