I just voted and they made me show a picture ID, I was pleased! Hopefully they will require it everywhere.

I didn't get asked to show my ID or my voter registration card.  Just gave them my name and signed beside it in the log book.

They asked for mine(for the address), so they knew what table to send me to that had my name in the book.

But it was the first thing you had to do as you walked in the door.

apparently there was some bs a few weeks ago about PA doing away with the id req, but I was asked for mine this morning, and some faith was restored

Texas:

I showed my drivers license and voters registration card and they handed back my DL not even looking at it and told me it is not required.

Same.  Even my 14 year old daughter knew it was fucked up.  "What's to stop somebody from just using your name?"

Not a god damned thing.

Here in Missouri I've had to show ID for years. You show your ID, they first check that it is valid then they send you to the cross-check lady. She checks you against the registration rolls and two officials initial and you sign the roll before you are given your ballot.

When I voted this morning the girl in front of me in line had moved and not updated her ID or her voter registration and they flagged her and moved her to "that other line".

Say what you will those blue hairs run a tight ship at my polling place and I like it.

Michigan is requiring a gov issued phote ID or signed affadavit swearing that you have no photo id and are who you say you are.

Not here. Just give a name and what I assume is a matching address. If I know my neighbors name and address and he is registered to vote I could just vote as him at one place and me at another. But  my wife seems to think requiring ID is wrong somehow.

Standard procedure here including just minutes ago when I voted.

Was hoping there would be exit pollers... I could have just handed them my sample ballot...
Hand them ID.  They look at it and find your name in the booklet.  You sign in the booklet.  They take a sticker with your name on it and put it on a green piece of paper and give that and your license to you.  You take the green paper over to the people handing out the ballots and sign it in front of them.  They give you your ballot and you go vote.  When done you put your ballot in the ballot collecting machine.

They had a card reader machine that reads your Driver's license.   From there the printer prints out a form with a barcode and your name.    That sticker is put into a book (think pharmacy book) where you sign and then are handed a "credit card voting thingy".    Put the CC voting thingy in the touch screen machine and vote.   When you are done it pops out.   Complete.

That sounds like the way to go as long as you can visually confirm that your votes are correct on the form after using the touch screen. After hearing that a machine was changing votes to Zero from Romney, I don't trust the machines.

The machine form will make sure there are no "Hanging Chads", while the voter visually checking his/her vote afterwords confirms the vote was correct.

We know how well Ds stuff ballot boxes, espc in MN.

Same here in PA, not required, but they do ask.

Would have been law, but a [D] judge got a delay.

I voted a month ago. Showed my voter ID with no picture on it. They gave me a card for the touch screen, I voted, the screen showed me my votes again and asked if it was right. I punched yes, the paper tape was printed and the card returned.

Fast forward to this morning...

Son goes to vote and says my name is crossed off.

Workes for me.
