Been out of video games for about 8 or more years. Last systems were PS@ and Gamecube. Both were just OK.

Was looking at a Wii the other day and remembered how much fun the Mario and Zelda games were, but they were pretty much it for the Nintendos. Seems XBox 360 and PS3 are mostly FPS, which I got bored with a long time ago after Doom. Also, I hear abot the XBox being problematic.

So, the Wii has my most interest, but could any of you put in your 2 cents?

Wii is ok but it's mostly for younger kids. I think all of the fun games now are all online. FPS games are a lot more fun when you're on a team killing real people on the other end. I prefer either PS3 or Xbox but I play the PS3 more because that's the one that's in my room because it also plays blu rays.

Are there any consoles that use an infared gun like the Wii but have better graphics?

Not many of you into these?

Consoles are for children.

You must build a PC, overclock EVERYTHING, and play on your 3 26" monitors, or you may as well go pick an Atari and play Defender.

Really though, there is a whole forum here for gaming. I'm not a console fan and I think the Wii I bought for the gf is the lamest thing in the world, but I'm sure they can steer you in the right direction there:

I'm not sure if I would pick up a Wii with the next gen Nintendo console (the Wii U) literally right around the corner.  On the other hand, if you don't want to try and pick a Wii U up later this month, you might be able to get Wii for cheaper after the Wii U comes out.

Otherwise, you should try to figure out which games you are most interested in playing and then buy whichever console has most of those.
