Seen lots of fedex and UPS rants lately. I've shipped with fedex for years and never had a problem, but in all those years I've never seen this. Whoever the customer was that authorized this was not me. No one contacted my by phone, email or otherwise. Anyway I contacted the shipper (who also had no knowledge of the supposed destruction) and they are supposedly sending a replacement. FYI this literally was a boat anchor, along with 20 feet of chain and 200' of rode.

Nice. Destroyed= someone at FedEx now has a nice anchor.

I came home at lunch today expecting to see 2 large boxes at my door. Instead I saw 2 large boxes at the neighbors door. At least FedEx got them close enough I could see them

We all know fedex UPS and USPS can fail in very big ways under the right circumstances so no need to beat a dead horse.

If you like this one you'd also like when Fedex lightly damaged a piece of equipment shipped to my company that we were to install at a FEDEX depot. Fedex also failed to provide a climate controlled environment(as outlined in contract) which resulted in a 15K + bill when the servers smoked and choked on dust.

How do you destroy a boat anchor with chain & rope attached?

Tie it to a boat and drag it around the lake ...
