I bought this No4 Mk2 today, it belonged to a buddy of mines father who used it as a trunk gun, he passed away from cancer a little over a month ago. The rifle has obviously been modified (which I'm ok with) but the reqr sight is some oddball whack job that I want to swap out so will a rear sight from a No4 Mk1 fit a No4 Mk2? They look similar but I need to know for sure before I order the wrong part.

Ideas?

Mk1 & Mk2 differ in the trigger mounting...

Buy either the 'L' or more elegant graduated sights for a #4 and be happy ever after...

FYI, it just looks like he modified the battle sight to be more precise and perhaps hit dead on at <300 yards.  It's ugly, but it may work just fine...

With that little bit added onto the sight the bolt won't clear to come out.

Not even if you tilt it forward just a little?

The rifle is already buggered, so I personally wouldn't put too much effort into straightening it out.

Just cut the addition off and save yourself some money.

No, myself and a few other guys tried it. Will that sight from gunbroker work with it, is that the L sight?

Yeah, I was kinda shocked when I first saw an Enfield battle sight.

Yes, but that is not the "L" sight.  The L is like the A1 rear sight for ARs.  It's a simple tip over, where the short one is for 'short' range, and the tall one is for long.  I forget the actual range, but it's not a very good sight for recreational shooting.
The one you posted is much better, however it is the cheap stamped version.  Note the much nicer milled one posted above.

By the way, something appears to be wrong with the gunbroker one, as the slider adjustment lever shouldn't be sticking out that far...

This is the milled sight (part 40B) I bought from Springfield Sporters a couple of years ago for $25.

That sight will work fine. But try springfield sporters. They may have the sight with the micrometer click adjustment. Both my No4Mk1's have it. Makes for finer adjustments at longer ranges possible.

ETA: Like the one Smashy posted.

Cool, I'll pick one up
