Something stupid from chain email.  Similar to one we have, maybe someone has it saved and can post it.
Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics and we've decided we're leaving. "Legitimate rape." Sheesh!
We in New York intend to form our own country and we're taking the other Blue States with us

In case you aren't aware that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the Northeast.
We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:
You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.
We get stem cell research and the best beaches.
We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd Akin.
We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.
We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss.
We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.
You get Alabama.
We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their fair share.
We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.
With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

PS: We're taking the good weed too.

I told them the companies would leave when they kept upping the taxes on profits.  And I was told taxes would go down when the blue states didn't have to give it all to the all-taking, non-giving red states.

Since the best beaches are in Florida, how do they figure that works out?

Basing it on State Government (control of 2 or 3 of Governor, State upper house, State lower house) the Republicans get 31 States and the Democrats get 19.

Democrats get:

Arkansas

California

Colorado

Connecticut

Delaware

Hawaii

Illinois

Kentucky

Maryland

Massachusetts

Nevada

New Jersey

New Mexico

New York

Oregon

Rhode Island

Vermont

Washington

West Virginia

Democrats get most of the inner cities, welfare recipients, and the illegals. Republicans get most of the natural resources.

I don't think it would be as soon as three years.  Right around that point is when they'll make it illegal for manufacturers, VCs and entrepreneurs to emigrate.  A year after that, they'll need to pass more laws making it illegal for those people to quit their assigned roles even if they don't move.  Then they'll need to build some fences and walls - later adding armed guards - to "keep the Blue Red Staters out of our paradise".  Then they'll look like Detroit... or a few other places in history.

(Edited because I forgot the Democrats used to be "red" before 2000 but that apparently struck too close to home so they switched.)

Dear blue states.  We have all the oil and gas in the gulf of Mexico, control of major pipelines, most of the military facilities,(Norfolk, Bragg, Barksdale, etc) , Oak Ridge and nuclear weapons.

Unlike some states, most of the southern states could self sustain on natural resources.  Oil, agriculture, etc.

I like this.  We could opt out of international oil trade agreements, drill and refine our own, and then sell it to them at a slightly undercut price from the rest of the market.  We would make a killing while they exported all of their wealth to us so they could drive their cars  Same goes for food.  We would be rolling in it.

So, on the first day of separation, the new President of "Red Statia" makes a simple announcement:

From this day forward:

1. The rate of corporate taxation will be half that of Blue Statia.

2. The rate of capital gains taxation will be half that of Blue Statia.

3. The personal income tax rate will be half that of Blue Statia.

We could go with the 2008 electoral map by county, or this year's even better...

2004:

You will not have much success trying to wrestle the conservative counties in the liberal-dominated States (dominated by urban sesspool voting).

PS:  I love you Oklahoma!!!!
10/1/2012 9:42:59 AM EDT
[#35]
Wisconsin? Illinois? WTF. These people apparently don't read election maps or pay much attention to anything.
How about they do what they have planned, but instead of separating by states, we go by counties. Most of Illinois would go Red, they can have Chicago for all I care. You don't get all of any of these states just because you have 1 or 2 highly populated cities with a largely brainwashed/retarded populace. Keep your cities and all of the libtards that congregate in and around them. We'll see how feeding all of those open hands goes when you are begging for food from the rural producers.

You can keep your (Chicago)

And I'll keep my (Western Illinois)

It's not just NYC, most of the highly populated areas of New York are Democrat. Even upstate the Democrats control Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. If you have not had experience with people who have lived in large urban suburban areas their whole life it is hard to describe the mindset.

I've never had to deal with them in any great number.

If you find yourself anywhere that so much "group think" is going on, it becomes very easy for people to fall into mental patterns, where they start to believe that the prevailing wisdom is "right," no matter how much things change.

I can only speak for New York, and especially NYC, because that's what I know. Historically, you had lower class poor folks in NYC busting their asses for shit wages, being taking advantage of by rich people. At the time, government intervention, unions, shady politics, were the only way some people had to get a leg up.

Sadly, in time, the things that were supposed to help the working man starting hurting him. The benefactors became the bad guys. (Watch "On The Warterfront.") When times change, and people's mindset doesn't... things turn to shit.

Years ago, looking out for the poor meant looking out for working people getting fucked over by guys in top hats. Now, "the poor" are welfare leeches... but you still have to look after them, right? I mean, you don't hate the poor, do you?

Of course, it's not 150 years ago. The Pug Uglies aren't brawling with the Dead Rabbits to control Five Points.
Today, if you have a booth at a trade show at Jacob Javitts, you gotta pay a union electrician $100 to plug in a fucking extension cord.
(True story.)

Then, if a place like NYC becomes a cultural mecca, you're really fucked, because you have lobs with money up your ass, voting for every dumb "noble" idea that comes down the pike... because they have the dough to avoid the unintended consequences that arise.
