if you have small pox, which symptoms will appear first: sick feeling (fever, aches, etc.) or rash ? |
|
From my all-knowing wife: (molecular geneticist / microbiologist) Smallpox is a viral disease unique to humans. Twelve to 14 days after infection, you typically become febrile and have severe aching pains and prostration. (Haha.. NOTHING to do with your prostate) Some 2 to 3 days later, a papular rash develops over the face and spreads to your extremities. The rash soon becomes vesicular and later, pustular. You remain febrile throughout the evolution of the rash and customarily experience severe pain as the pustules grow and expand. Gradually, scabs form, which eventually separate, leaving pitted scars. Death usually occurs during the second week. Got Pox? |
