I was having major problems with my 10 month gsd. but now the last couple of weeks have been golden with her... it almost seems as if she has been pre programmed.. I was the 1 that was messing up with how to train her.... she scares me with how smart she can be sometimes she had no training before me, I have had her for 4 months, she seems so smart that she picked up on commands heel and.leave it the first or second time I used it.... it was like I have been using the wrong words the whole time, but once I use those exact command she knew exactly what they were it seemed..... it is like all of this stuff is there I just have to figure out how to bring it out
Of her it's like is long as I know the right words to use I can get her to do what I want... I just have to figure out the proper terminology... but it blows my mind how smart they can be it is like she's already pre programmed I just have to figure out the codes |
Words mean nothing. The dog associates the command to whatever word YOU choose to use for the desired response. Had she received any training during the 6 mos before you acquired her? If so, maybe you're just figuring out the proper commands that she has already been taught. But, you are correct, GSD's are scary smart and very intune with their masters. I swear, sometimes I think my 2 1/2 yo male GSD can read my mind. Good luck with your training.

There is a reason why GSDs are the second smartest dog. Like others have said you pick what the words mean. They don't care. Sounds like your GSD is like my hunting line Golden. My GR loves to please. If her working means you are happy then she very happy to do it. |
