This mourning dove has been hanging around my house for two days. He doesn't seem to be overly concerned by my presence. I got about four feet from him to take this shot, but get any closer and he flies away with a squeaky little cackle. You dove hunters know the sound they make. My cat tried to get a jump on him but the ol' guy ain't as quick as he used to be. Dove season is less than five weeks away. [:D] |

Whoa, wait a minute. I just did a little research and found that WNV has not been reported in California. But my wife saw something on the news about disease transmitting mosquitos and that's why I'm rescreening. Here's the latest WNV map. |

I know that squeaky sound well. Mourning doves are very common in my neighborhood, but last time I was in Tucson, AZ (Thanksgiving Day and the day after) I saw MILLIONS of them in the fields and hills on the north side of town. BTW dove is one of Boycat's favorite foods. |
