| Anyone have any experience with Barsca scopes? |
|
Absolute Shit.
Friend bought one. He asked me to help him sight it in. It was unusable. Don't be a fool.
ETA: I sat down to shoot his rifle and gave up before even putting a round in the chamber. The optic was that bad. I told him not to waste his ammo. He eventually bought a nice Zeiss Conquest. There are good inexpensive scopes, the barska crap is not included in that. |
I have a 1-4x32 that I use now and again. When illuminated it has 3 sets of cross hairs in three different spots on the scope (yes, that's nine cross hairs). It's fuzzy around the edges, like I'm looking through a 200 year old eyeglass. Other than that, it works great.
Seriously, it holds a zero fine and I treat it like the piece of shit it is and it hasn't fallen apart yet. It has about three and half years of abuse on it. I got what I paid for, no doubt, but I've already broken even in usage, as I see it. Would I buy another? Unlikely. Will I continue to use this one? Why not? I have iron sights if it shats the bed. |

Cheap Chinese crap. Agreed! But I've had one on my 50BMG for a couple of years now and it still works......

I have one on my AR, a 6-24 X 40 with mildot reticle.
It works fine for what I use it for, punching holes in paper on bright sunny days. It has remained stable and sighted in for years and responds well to adjustments. Unfortunately the brass piece that is threaded into the top of the scope that holds the adjuster broke, so now my up/down adjustment is non-existant. I've epoxied it once, but it didn't hold. I'll probably give it another go, but in the meantime, I'm shopping for another cheap scope. I'm looking at a BSA, I've heard some good thing about some of them. I wish I could afford good glass, but with the wife out of work and attending college, and me responsible for a family of four on firemans pay, I'm not buying a Leuapold or nightforce or all that. A "good" scope for me is a $ 150 Nikon. Can't really reccomend the Barska though, I wouldn't buy another one. |
SNOWWIS is better ![]() I wouldn't put a Simmons OR Barska on anything but a plinker 22 myself. Actually, I do have a Barska for my 22, taking up space in a LaRue mount until I have the money to put a decent scope on one of the other rifles Not sure how I'll mount the Barska once I do that though. |

Nikon has a $30 rebate going on for the next few months. You can get a decent Nikon scope for $100 or so online, after rebate.

I have one of their 30mm Euro something or another models on my 77/22 and it seems to work fine for that. I don't think I would use it on a centerfire though. I tinkered with a 6-24 Tactical model a while back but got rid of it pretty quickly. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The upper end Tascos are about as low as I'm willing to go. Spend $120 on a no frills Nikon prostaff if you want an inexpensive but reliable optic. +1 on the Nikon Yeah Nikon or leupold. I wouldn't put anything else on any rifle within the price ranges that these scopes can be had at. Bushnell is ok, but I really don't think anyone should subject themselves to that kind of fuckery. |

never had one but from what I have heard they are a border line quality scope You heard wrong. LOL. Yeah, not a keeper. At best, a scope you MIGHT be able to use with a BB gun I agree it's a piece of shit scope but, as I've already said, I have one that's been working fine on my 50BMG for a couple of years now..... Now I don't do any 1K shooting, 300yds max but believe it or not the damn thing is still going. That said, I most certainly wouldn't recommend that someone actually buy one - the only reason I did is that I didn't have the money at the time for a decent scope so I bought the Barska. The 50BMG most certainly is not a BB gun and my Barska (the piece of shit it is) has been working fine.... |

What most guys I've seen buy these crappy scopes is because they think that they are getting all the extras, but they are mostly unusable. The BARSKA 6-24x-50 or what ever it was was impossible to get a good sight picture. It just could not be done by my eyes. My friend spent like $200 or $250 on that piece of shit. he wasted a bunch of expensive Black Hills .308 ammo trying to sight it in, only to have to replace it because it was complete trash. I wouldn't put that on my kids air soft. For that money, you can get a decent fixed power scope that will actually work! It's not sexy, and it won't have all the extras, but you will be able to see throughout even at dusk, and make repeatable adjustments. I shoot out to 1000m with a 4x fixed Romanian scope made in 1976 on my PSL. Good glass, even old cold war IOR glass, works well at low power if it's clear and repeatable. |
| My experience with Barska is negative. While I didn't buy a scope, I did buy a pair of their $50 binoculars last Christmas for my 12 y/o daughter to watch birds. The POS binocs broke in five minutes when the focal adjustment lever came completely off the eyepiece. My $100 Nikons bought three years before are still intact. Spend a little extra cash and avoid Barska. |
