Too sweet = major hangovers the next day. I prefer Pernod with mineral water. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d8/Pernod_p_006.jpg/250px-Pernod_p_006.jpg Don't try doing shots of that stuff...especially if you hate black licorice/anise.

What do you think Sambuca is flavored with? I actually "grew up" drinking Becherovka, or as my Oma called it "Becherbitter". Now that stuff will kick you in the nuts.

We were running out of alcohol last night and somebody grabbed the Ricard. I didn't realize what was being poured in the shot glasses. I can tolerate it mixed with some water, but not straight up. |

Only in espresso. In espresso? I used to like one small glass of Sambuca with an espresso after dinner, but anymore I kind of prefer grappa. Not sweet and syrupy like Sambuca but with all the kick. Yes. "corretto" - i.e. corrected. Try it - It's good. |

Go for real Ouzo instead. Grappa OTOH, is called Italian Gasoline for a very good reason. In another life as a young Serviceman stationed in Italy,I danced with Grappa a few times, that shit should come with a warning label!! Maybe it did but who the hell could read Italian at that point. Sambuca was served as an after dinner drink,as already stated, with a few beans. Awesome. |

That shit was deadly. <––-Did the Vicenza thing in the late 90s. |
