"In April, Fauquier County threatened Martha Boneta, owner of a small farm in Paris, VA, with thousands of dollars in fines for a series of alleged violations, including hosting "an event" on her farm without obtaining a special events permit.

The event? A small birthday party for the 10-year old daughter of a close friend, Robin Verity."

Isn't Fauquier County "horse country"?  Didn't they go for Obama in '08 or was that Loudon County?

Grew up in fauquier county (funny name, i know), not but 5 miles from Paris in Delaplane, Va.

If you dont know the area, then heres a quick run down. The DC metro area has been growing ever outward the past ten years. So much so that cities and counties no longer resemble themselves from 5 years before. With this expansion two things are happening: #1 latino gangs are growing exponentially and moving into white suburbia. #2 the Upper middle class is moving out of the once "safe" areas into the immidiate countryside to "urbanize" this area with strip malls and fast food chains.

Fauquier county has taken a very strong stance to resist this movement by develping a strong local county government. They have stood very stiffly agaisnt housing development, busniess development, building permits, and the rezoning of farm land into residential. They have suceeded in their efforts.

The county still looks exactly as it did ten years ago. For reference, the neighboring county is Prince William county, which was in the news a few years ago about requiring illegals to present guv't ID on the spot or be taken to ICE jail. Not to mention PW county is a crime infested hell hole.

The drawback to the strengthen county government are situations like this. They are not happy with the outsiders moving in, and tend to force BS rules onto them. This is one example. This is also an example of non-resident citizens trying to move into the country side and not being met with apple pie and a friendly handshake.

Sounds like the man in the interview has had some "past experiences" with statist governments and the usurpation of "rights" and is feeling the need to speak out and warn others before they can't speak out.
