There I was, balls deep in a Hooker.... Oh wait that was yesterday.
TL;DR: Truck cut out all electricals 'cept engine/transmission Dealer said we can't give you rental Another dealer said the same Destroyed my pants TL;DR is TL;DR: Shits fucked up yo. So there I was, putting along on base at a mere 20 miles an hour through a round-about. Suddenly my Lamb of God stopped playing, which started the confusion. Looking down I notice also that my gauges are all reading zero and my information display was blank. I started to burn up and to my dismay I realised my air conditioning wasn't working on this 100+ degree day. I realised I had absolutely no power as I was moving at 20mph...or did I? What threw me off is, as I limped into a parking lot just about 50 down the road, I still had power stearing which is fully electronic. And sure enough, there was still power under the throttle...wtf? But wait, it gets stranger. I get it parked, and cut it off. Only thing is, it didn't cut off at all. There I was looking under my popped Hood, keys in hand, with perhaps the most dumbfounded look on my face as I watched the engine, still running. I tried cycling the ignition to no avail. I looked under the hood for obviously blown fuses, and found nothing. I called roadside assistance, and waited the longest 15 minutes of just life as I continued to search for something that's gone wrong. A flatbed showed up to tow my brand new F-150 to the dealer, which proved to be in vain. In order to get the truck back out of park, I had to manually release the locking mechanism which was a PITA. The truck stayed running, in park and the parking break set while on the flatbed. When we got it there, we ended up pulling the fuel pump fuse to cut it off. In doing so, the guy drops the fuse in the engine bay. Using proven logic and laws of gravity, I bend down to see if it fell out. Using Murphy's law, I heard a rip and a tear and felt my ass cheeks loosen up. Fuck. My. Life. Now I'm at a Ford/Lincoln dealer with women and children standing around and I've got the God Damned Mariana Trench ripped into my pants! It's at least 8 inches long, and my boxer shorts are just flapping in the wind. I was embarrased, but thankful that my wardrobe was about the same color all around that day...... About an hour later, as the mechanics were on lunch, they tell me they have no loaner vehicles and it'd be best to go to the dealer down the road. After the news that I had to go on to the next dealer, we replaced the fuse and tried to crank it up. Of course it wouldn't crank, not one bit. I had the mechanic pull the battery ground for a minute and hard reset all the computers. I'm a little nervous doing that with these new fansidasicle automobiles, afraid I might fry something... So I let him do it. Of course that's all it took, and the truck was up and running normally.
I get it to the larger dealer that I actually picked up the truck at, and told them the adventures of today. They reassured me that they as well, do NOT have a loaner vehicle. They mentioned I could wait around, but Hey, I work nights! So they gave me the option of coming in at 0800 tomorrow. Fuuuuuu.....but it's my only chance. ETA: to add TL;DR for lazy people ETAA: the milage on my truck is 800. Seriously. Only eight-hundred. |

Like the first post says... I'll add that it somewhat sounds like a bad connector in the wiring harness. I've seen some oddball problems on some nearly brand-new military generators due to sub-par harness connector construction. Just one of the possibilities anyway. Also, get some better pants that fit. |

A buddy of mine up here in MD had his brand new F-150 suddenly decide to stick the throttle.
He had to throw it into neutral, pull over, and kill the ignition.....his would not shut the engine down either. He went through hell at the dealer, when the truck was there it acted fine. Needless to say he's apprehensive at best about driving it. Maybe Ford is just having a bad summer....

Document your ass off so if it turns into a Lemon Law case all your bases are covered. Hopefully it was a one time deal but that is fucked. By document my ass off, you just mean hanging on to all the paperwork that the dealer will give me tomorrow, and making logs of what happened at what days, milage ect? |

Instrument cluster is bad. I have replace 2 of them for the same concern this year. IC lost communication with the PCM thats why you had no control of the ignition switch. Now I'm saying this over the net and have not seen your truck. But I have seen this same concern twice and that is how I fixed it. YMMV |

ETA: Just got back from the dealer, and it was exactly what I thought. Couldn't find anything wrong. |

Yes it will cause the other symptoms also. There is nothing wrong right now it's working. When y'all disconnected the battery you erased all the fault codes that were set. The Tech is going to have to see it happen to make sure of the cause. It may never happen again or it may happen in the next 20 minutes. |
