AC was down for 12 hours with temp over 100 degrees.  All I had to do was sit in front of a fan and it was horrid.   When I was younger worked in a steel mill for several years.  Was stationed in the tropics for a year.  Now I don't handle the heat well at all.  Any older guys have the same problem?

That's why I have a 5000 BTU window unit in my storage shed- just for things like that. At least I can keep my bedroom cool so I can sleep.

yikes, my old unit was put in w/the house when we built it so figure 1998..not bad to last that long..I got A 16  SEER, the old unit was a ZERO SEER lol..so should be interesting to see what the bills are now. The unit is so quiet we cannot even hear it running, it is a cool 68 deg right now  inside and 90 outside. The unit is not even breaking a sweat to keep up. My old one ran 24/7 and it never got below 74

Other people didnt have light for over 8 days... anywho... first world problems and all. If only we could all grab our balls once in a while...

I'm 62, and never had A/C until 5 years ago. You will survive. BTW, I work in a weld shop, so heat is a fact of life.

Ours went down at the end of last summer. After a couple of weeks this summer of 95 degrees in the house we dumped 4 grand on a new Trane.

Unless you changed other things, your AC will run just about as much as the old one, but only more efficiently. Maybe new AC blows more velocity of air or a little colder air to cool it off a little quicker, but unless you changed your old leaky ducts and added insulation, your house will heat back up just as quick. People see $30/month change in their electric bill after they get a new AC, but your energy savings isn't just attributable to the new efficient AC unit.

I would have gone for a drive in the car.  Or go to the movies.  They keep those places COLD around here.
