| With all the talk in some segments of society about the need to ban "assault weapons" because of their danger as shown in the Aurora shooting. I am curious, the other article talks about how the weapon jammed and he used the Glocks. How many rounds did he actually fire from the AR? |
| I've asked that out loud myself a few times. I read one column from the Denver Post that says the police claim that they don't know and can't tell. BS, anyone with half a brain knows that you can count shell casings. Most of the stories I've heard about victims had shotgun pellets pulled out of them, in fact I haven't heard of anyone injured with a .223 bullet. |

Maybe you nailed it with the "half a brain" observation.
Most likely, he didn't get off enough rounds from the AR-15 to support their narrative, i.e. that AR-15's are dangerous weapons of mass destruction, that magazines of more than ten rounds are useless for everyone except mass murderers, and that no one should be able to purchase quantities of ammunition. If he only got off a few rounds, the air comes out of those headlines, and with it some of the support for the coming ban initiatives. They won't let the facts get in the way of a good crisis. |

Aside from quibbling on gun boards, does anyone really care? Yes. If there is a fight brewing about whether or not assault weapons with babnana clips kill babies and puppies faster than grandpa's shotgun and should be banned because the meanie in Aurora joined the ranks of the thousands of people that use ARs every day in mass shootings, it would help to not only point out that ARs are pretty much never used, but also that the Aurora shooter didn't successfully use the AR to any real extent. |

And you think facts will have any part in said fight? He killed and wounded a bunch of people. He had an AR.. He could have left the thing unloaded and done all his damage with a spork and they would still be calling for a ban. |

The media doesn't care, the left doesn't care, but the centrists that don't know much about guns will hear the facts and quietly go vote. The fudds will care if they hear the facts. People need to be informed, and people need to be constantly being vocal about this, otherwise the alarmist drone about high powered assault bullets from assault clips shooting down airliners wins the debate. We have the power to keep this irrational alarmism from working. We have the voices, we have the votes, and we have facts on our side. But we have to actually do it. Sitting around and bitching about how people are stupid and uninformed accomplishes nothing. |

Of course the investigators know how many rounds were fired from each gun. It's not hard to figure out. I suspect that we'll know in time too. Just like a lot of details that we don't know yet. The guy was just charged and jury selection hasn't started yet. How hard do you think it's going to be to find someone who hasn't already heard of this shooting to sit on a jury, especially if they already know a lot of the facts?
Come on guys, not everything is a conspiracy theory.
