I didn't watch this one. I'm doing a static line jump in 2 days and don't need a mental picture of what could go wrong. I've jumped several times before and I'm not too concerned about it but I still don't want to to see it. Yeah, you might want to wait 'til you get back. It's some pretty serious Wile E. Coyote material. Well filmed, though.

I noticed his hand shaking too. To me, he did not seem too confident in the jump either.
A question for those who know about these things: Shouldn't he have just jumped out and not rolled? Seemed to me he used up a lot of altitude with the rolling maneuver. Also, would it have been better to have a cord that pulled the chute out right from the beginning, or is there a risk of entanglement with the tower by doing this? Hope the guy survived.

Hope the guy survived. from watching many base jump videos and tv shows about it... Most people use a drogue shoot that they hold in their hand and simply let go of shortly after jumping to pull out their main shoot. I imagine they also use shoots and back packs designed to be pulled out by a drogue and open quickly... That guy did not appear to be using such a set up. |

Much more likely to get the main chute open in time. Hope he is alive and has learned his lesson. |
