Wait, I thougth the military would issue you equip? Are you saying that you have not enlisted yet, why are you buying gear now, when you might not need it or it will be issued to you. This is wouldn't be for military use... this is just to have. I was just saying that I am working on putting on a little more weight and didn't know if an adding an extra 20lbs would make much of a difference. |

DO NOT show up to basic with gear... or do, would be fun for the other recruitsI'm not going to... that would be ridiculous. I would be hated on by everyone and I would deserve it. I hope you didn't really think that someone would show up to basic wearing a plate carrier... should I pack a SOPMOD block II clone as well ????

Quoted: I am somewhat unsure about what size plate carrier to buy. I am looking at a LBT-6094B-RS (I am not sure if different companies size differently). Anyways... I am 5'11" 170lbs. I am trying to put on about 15-20 more lbs before I go into the army but I definitely don't want the carrier to be too big. Thanks for the help. -John Pic just because ppl like pics: http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k558/thornejc23/LBT.jpg That is a really dumb idea. Work on strength and endurance, don't gain weight. 170 @ 5'11" is nearly ideal if you are fit |

I'm about 70" and 170 pounds and I was told I'm pushing it. Doesn't make sense since im not fat. Just risk having to be taped if I put on any more weight |

I am definitely focused more on endurance than anything else because I feel like that will crack you far before lifting heavy stuff will (based on what I have been told) but I am mainly doing medium weight medium repetition in the gym and then alternating between short distance "high speed" running and long distance running day to day. If any of y'all military guys have suggestions on what I need to do to get ready they would be greatly appreciated. |

Well, I've never been in the .mil, but I'll make a wild-assed guess and say I don't think they'll let you wear the plates and carrier when you get weighed at MEPS. |

Although strength training is not a bad idea, there are no weights at basic . . . or really in other .mil school for that matter. Body weight exercuses and endurance exercises would serve you better than a weight training program. |

You will lose muscle mass in boot you are not lifting weights its more cardio. This too. If you're planning on adding an additional 15 pounds of muscle mass, you're probably eating a shit-ton of protein over 6 meals a day. Your diet at basic will not be conducive to maintaing your physique. |

or do, would be fun for the other recruits
