A full day of hiking, climbing and photography was ahead of me, so after I filled up on oatmeal (easy to make when bike camping), I headed out.

The landscape here is otherworldly.  Some of the trails take you back into the canyons where there is nothing but rock and dirt, nothing growing.  Makes you feel like you are on an other planet.

I love the badlands. Ever since my parents took us there several times as a kid. Always reminds me of Louis Lamour books, cowboys, hideouts, and rough survival. Someday I want to walk in a ways and camp.

Thanks!  It is a great place to go exploring in.  Be careful to not get too close to the edge though, it is VERY crumbly.

A sad thing happened while I was there.  An 18 year old ranger on her first day on the job got too close to an edge and it crumbled underneath her, sending her to her death 400ft below

So be careful
