I found The Postman on Netflix and found it to be a pretty good movie.
Its a bit long and had its moments, but overall it was worth seeing.
I probably wouldn't have appreciated the movie as much until now.
This along with a certain 68 year old engineer with a ham radio made it a different movie than if I saw it years ago.
Also who has a crate of M14's??

What other forgotten/buried films should I look for?

Top 5 worst movies I ever seen.

Went to the theater when it came out. Was hard not to laugh out loud.

Still the only movie I have ever walked out of before it was over.

Cry Havoc!!  And release the dogs of war!!  I liked it alright.  Good zoning out kinda movie.  Drawn out in spots and rushed in others I thought.

Obviously you never saw Battlefield Earth in the theater. I still use that movie as the suck stick all other shitty movies are measured by.

I actually liked The Postman. It was pretty good mind candy.

Read the Book...its 10x better and makes the important points the movie glossed over.

I actually liked Battlefield Earth....and the Postman. I just use my imagination to fill in the voids or boring parts, I guess,LOL

...then again, I can watch Dune over and over too.

Looks like I have a book to hunt down.
Waynes World 2 is the only movie I walked out on.

Thanks for the replies all.

They filmed near me in Oregon, I got me a signed picture by Costner and saw some of the filming.

Is it true the book has fighting robots in it?

I like the first half of the book, the second half was preposterous.  Never saw the film.

Good movie.

I likesd that Tom Petty played a Cameo.

What, you don't think going from being basically a caveman to teaching yourself to fly a fighter jet in an afternoon is plausible?

They're not robots.  They are humans who have been augmented with implants.
The big fight scene at the end is completely different.

Hey it had Tom Petty therefore it was awesome.

This.  David Brin is an excellent writer.

Besides, it will probably take less time to read the book than to watch the movie.

I liked it, also liked Waterworld, but I tend to like end of the world as we know it type movies.

[#40]
I like it ok, but I had read the book so I kind of ignored where the screwed it up and filled in with my own memories.

I have walked out of two movies in my life, PeeWee Herman's Great Adventure and Natural Born Killers.
7/12/2012 10:31:21 AM EDT
[#41]

I've read and watched both The Postman and Battlefield Earth.

I like The Postman better as a movie, and Battlefield Earth better as a book. Both movies and books are similar to each other mostly in name only.

+1.  Here are all 5:

The Postman
Waterworld
Bodyguard
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Dances With Wolves

It's not as utterly retarded as Event Horizon, but it's pretty bad.

I hope David Brin (brilliant writer) got paid for the crap that is The Postman, at least.

Definately not as bad as "In the name of the King", now that was an awful movie.

I liked the top 3 on that list.

Not saying they were great, but I wouldn't walk out on them.

A much better film than popular culture would have you beleive, but still a pale shadow compared to the original novel.

I liked the Postman movie.  As others have said though, I like the post apocalypse genre . I may have to watch it again soon.

Book of Eli was 10 times better though, IMO.
