Have any of you RAZR or RAZR Maxx users gotten the Ice Cream Sandwich update yet?

Just curious.  I thought it was supposed to be out by the end of this month.

Go to Settings>About Phone then look at the Android version.  Does it say 2.3.6 or 4.0.something?

I was really trying to figure out why you were asking about an operating system update on a AAA battery powered razor.  I need beer for this site to make sense.

Also on a rezound. Any idea how ics will effect us if we use it?

I was at the Verizon store on Tuesday and was told it would be rolling out within the next couple of weeks... we'll see though.

You can google the main features of "ICS 4.0".  Should give you a laundry list of all the added improvements.  It should be a pretty big step up.  Lots of nice features.  HTC has made the "sense" overlay/skin a lot less obtrusive and toned it down quite a bit.  So it won't look stock like the Galaxy Nexus, but it won't be so dramatic.

2.3.6  in AZ on a Maxx purch'd last month
Friend in AZ with a Razr purchased 11/11 also has no update yet

Seems like it's more of a geographic than meid rollout

Those updated claim they got a "you'll receive update in a week" msg from VZW, and 4 or 5 hours later it was downloading

Razr Maxx here, still on 2.3.6.   Does anyone know if they release it by region or state or how they have it set up?
6/28/2012 5:18:16 PM EDT
[#17]
I'm being patient, but I'm getting closer to succumbing to the temptation of rooting it and throwing the .211 OTA leak on it.

I'd rather get the OTA then root, but it's absurd how little info is trickling down about the update.

They're doing it in waves, starting yesterday. Apparently the release starting on the 22nd was a "beta" test of sorts. The general roll out started yesterday, and they'll be doing it in waves OTA. I don't know what the order will be.

Who gives a shit.  I love my Maxx because the battery lasts 2 days and it doesn't lock up.  Verizon can keep their ics for all I care.

I'm still on an old Droid X that has a couple of dead spots on the screen.

Holding out for the iPhone 5 release, then I'll decide which way to go....

Massive OS upgrade. More features, easier to use, faster etc.

How long did your upgrade take? Mine has been sitting on "Starting applications" for like 10 minutes.

Took 15 minutes, finally done. But now it'll only connect to 3G.

The Motorola Mobility crack coders strike again.

Google drops a gsm preview of 4.1 that is modded for vzw gnex devices in 6 hours yet moto cannot get a 6 month out 4.0 rollout working.

Got it at midnight last night.  It does appear to be faster.  If the 4g network didn't suck so bad at my house I could run a upload/download test to see if ICS improved internet performance at all.

With 2.3.6 I got download: 11.46/ upload: 4.15/ ping: 103.

FWIW I never received a message that I was going to get the update.  I manually checked and found there was an update available.

Waiting for mine to get the download to update.

I guess now that I've seen and read all this, it makes sense what the guy from the Verizon store said about Samsung having the ICS and I replied with a face and said what the hell is that?

Manually checked for the update, and downloaded and installed it. The news widget is gone, and I didn't see it in the apps but I haven't really looked too much. Seems OK, nothing especially great so far that I see but I'm not a tech nerd.

you guys on Gingerbread will really like ICS.  I had a Droid X on FroYo before I got my Galaxy Nexus.  ICS is so much nicer!

And I should be getting Jellybean before July is up!  Nice!
