what fucking loadout? You mean the vest of nothing, belt full of empty pockets, shells for a mag fed shotgun?
6/18/2012 9:17:19 AM EDT

he's gonna need a bag to hold his teeth after that knife knocks em out....

Eagle Molle LBV ?
Surefire M910 in MRE on his AA12

Not sure of anything else because I don't pay attention to brands of equipment as much as I would like to.

1. Not enough ammo. Both shot gun and sidearm.
2. No mag pouches/spare mags.
3. Why the hell do you need two big ass knives?
4. Battle belt too loose.
5. Why bother with a battle belt if it's only for a pistol, two frag pouches and an unnecessary knife? Ditch the knife, put the pistol on your vest along with the frags.
6. Shotguns are great, but not my first choice due to their inherent limitations.
7. No blow out kit
8. No utility pouch for stuff like ohh I don't know, a map and compass maybe?
9. Cotton 5.11's suck.
10. Tac vests are so last invasion. Everyone tier 1 knows you have to have a plate carrier and chest rig.

I don't wanna sound gay or nothin', but that dude seriously got ripped for that role. I always thought of him as some puny little whimpy man. It wouldn't surprise me if he used a healthy dose of testosterone and HGH.

It's been a while since I've seen the movie. Who was he supposed to be anyway? A former spec ops type turned contractor?

No homo, he put on 25lbs of muscle. Google his workout/diet. He lived in the jungle for a month preparing for the role. Didn't drink alcohol or eat anything but chicken.

Huh, turns out this guy has had quite an interesting life:

Is the only actor to win a Best Actor Oscar when nominated alongside four previous Oscar winners.

In 2003, at the age of 29, he replaced Richard Dreyfuss as the youngest actor ever to win the Best Actor Academy Award, for his role in The Pianist (2002).

In 1992, he was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident in which he flew over a car and crashed feet-first into a crosswalk. He spent months recuperating.

To prepare for his title role in The Pianist (2002), he learned to play Frederic Chopin pieces on the piano and shed 30 pounds off his already-thin frame. He cut himself off from his real life by giving up his car and apartment because he felt responsible to those Polish Jews who had suffered greatly and wanted to connect, to some small degree, with their hurt and despair.

Did sessions in an isolation tank, performed prison exercises, and went on a protein diet for his role in The Jacket (2005).

Was friends with the late Tupac Shakur, with whom he starred in the little-known film Bullet (1996).

Put on 25 pounds of muscle for the role of Royce in Predators (2010).

He's certainly put himself through a fair bit for his work!

hes in a jungle,

therefore the machete is a given, along with a smaller user knife,

The "grenade pouches" appear to be holding an additonal 2 magazines each for sidearm,

also IIRC he has a dump pouch in the back with another drum for the shotgun,

Meh. It's okay. If you're bored and it's on go for it. Better than AVP, not nearly as good as Alien 1&2 or the first Predator.

Ha! I just watched this again yesterday!

I couldnt' figure out why they gave him the shotgun they did, other than just for a 'cool looking' prop. I'd think that someone like his character would roll with an M4 or something similar.

Yep, spare drum in the small of his back. Actually instructs the others to "Reload while you can" during downtime. One of very few times I've ever heard that in a movie.

Two drums for the AA12, two strips on the front, seems like an okay amount visible. Not sure about the 1911 ammo situation, though.

Because I am a fan of the 20th Century Fox Aliens I will defend a little bit. He was supposedly picked up in the middle of a firefight or combat operation. None of the people had an optimal loadout because all of them were picked up immediately after doing some bad ass shit. Remember in Predator, the alien engaged AFTER the SF team wiped out the drug dealers, not before hand. I was actually surprised to see a real Surefire and even more surprised that a lot of you who are bashing his loadout probably LOVE John Wayne's Green Berets movie with Mattel guns and all. I liked Predators much better than any other Predator movie since the original. Probably because it was almost a carbon copy of the sequence of the original down to the whole Minigun tree clearing. Still haven't seen Promethius, shame on me.

Snotlocker

I actually liked Predators as well.  It was on par with the original, and definitely better than AvP or Predator 2.
Adrian Brody did a decent job of playing a Merc/Security Contractor.  His character was well written and did things that made us believe he was a bad ass rather than just being a hulking muscular dude or being told he was a bad ass without seeing evidence of it.  His dialogue following the predator camp ambush explains his mindset and shows he is dealing better with the situation than the others.  He also had decent gun handling with the AA-12 and there are several points where he is shown manipulating it in accordance with it being an open bolt design.  The only other characters that are close to his level of skill at arms are Isabelle followed by Nikolai.  I do think they should have given Nikolai a PKM or RPD instead of the minigun, or given him a Saiga-12 and Royce a SCAR or ACR instead.

Re: his load out he should have had more mags for his mag fed shotgun, but he does appear to have a spare drum on his belt in the movie.  While not used up as fast as it should have been, the amount of shells on his vest does decrease throughout the film.

Re: the knives the background for his character is he was a merc in africa before he got snatched up.

My theory is that he's using the AA-12 as a platform for FRAG-12 rounds, and was acting as a sort of grenadier, when he got snatched.
