Think about it, folks: Every prick, jerk, asshole, low-life armchair warrior, bitch with a socialist agenda, self-righteous snitch, whoever thinks society owes him one will sign up for that program. The Republicrat party official who is quite full of himself and hears you muttering "yeah, right" during one of his speeches. That neighbor of yours who thinks everybody who drives a car better than his must be a crook. The ghetto kid (REGARDLESS of race) who blames you for his shitty life and wants to get back at 'the rich folk'.  Your WIFE who thinks you have too many guns. Your CHILDREN who are taught that to be a good citizen they must report everything suspicious. [red]YOURSELF[/red] because the $AGENCY threatened you to throw you in jail "Think about your family and your career, Comrade Citizen!", if you don't report on your friends, neighbors, co-workers. Almost 300 million Americans, and you can trust not a single one of them? "Shhhh! Be quite, you never know who's listening!" ... "Don't say that over the phone, sheesh!" ... "Not in front of the children, they like their new teacher!" ...

Operation Snitch, I meant Tips violates almost every single fscking article of the Bill of Rights. It's up to yourself now to decide which banner you're willing to carry, this one
,

or that one.

Brown Shirts

Brown shirts here in the white house
Brown shirts up on top of the hill
Brown shirts can you hear them marching
I swear they are marching still

Brown shirts for the good of the country
Brown shirts pride all over the land
Brown shirts give us law and orders
You'll know when you raise your hands

Brown shirts is this how it all started?
Brown shirts oh no worse than their kids
Brown shirts sure they're tough on the bad guy
Though they made him what he is

Brown shirts
Brown shirts
They're a little more subtle now
Brown shirts than the "house painter" man
Brown shirts speak of God as their witness
But they would kill Jesus again

Brown shirts here in the white house
Brown shirts in their black limousines
Brown shirts over here in the new world
With fresh red unspeakable schemes

...AND BELIEVE ME, I'VE GOT NO PROBLEM DROPPING A DIME ON ANY AND EVERY ARAB, THAT I FIND TO BE EVEN SLIGHTLY "SUSPICIOUS".

YES, indeed, I suppose that's racial profiling...

Were you going to start with our Arab friends here on AR15.com?  I know of one for sure, and another who looks the part, even though he isn't really.  But that doesn't matter, right?  I mean, he's into guns, so he is "suspicious," right?  Please think about it.  [:(!]

Hey, guess what?
I'm capable of using judgement.
Guess what else?
I travel and work in Patterson and Jersey City, all the time.
You know what else?
There are MANY supporters of Al Qaeda, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc., in these cities. If I see them holding a protest, where they demonstrate SUPPORT for the very same people that killed my friends and neighbors....
...I'm dropping a BIG dime on them.

I rented space to an Arab-American Social club.
If I suspect that they're raising funds for Hamas, or Hezbollah, will I drop a dime on them?
You bet your ass I will.
If I even suspect that they have the slightest sypathies for Al Qaeda...
...DIME!

IF AN ARAB AR15.COM MEMBER BEGAN SPOUTING OFF ABOUT HOW HE SUPPORTS TERRORIST ACTIONS AGAINST THE USA....

...then he's the enemy, and I'll do whatever it takes to bring HIM down.

Don't be a fool and assume that there is a slippery slope, that we aren't capable of thinking, THAT ONLY THE GOVERNMENT CAN KEEP US SAFE!
WTF happened to all of you "we're all the Militia" folks? Remember? "We can help..." "we can prevent terrorism, too..."

Smell the coffee.

Please.

Are you telling me that if saw what you perceived to be individuals who were conspiring to commit a terrorist act, that you would do nothing?

Are some of you so paranoid, that you would rather not say anything, for fear of being a "snitch"?

And no, I haven't had more than a cup [:)]...

I'm just messin' witcha.  You do sound a bit wound up though.  Now, when you word things as I've highlighted in red, I can get on board.  If I saw anyone who appeared up to no-good--robbing/stealing/etc. I would take whatever steps possible to end their bad behavior.  I am always on the lookout, as any good citizen should be.  I also have the means (I hope!) to deal with many situations--martial arts training, travel armed, first aid trained, carry tools in my vehicle--a regular Boy Scout.  LOL  I practice good citizenship daily, but am very nervous about what Kar98 is referring to.  Are you familiar with the TIPS program?  It encourages virtually everyone to report anything they deem "suspicious."  Watch your six after you carry a gun case into the house after a trip to the range.  Ammo cans being carried into a place of residence?  VERY suspicious.  You bought ammonium nitrate fertilizer to nourish your yard?  F***ing terrorist!  You get the picture.  The government is encouraging downright paranoid behavior, which smacks firmly of the former U.S.S.R. and Nazi Germany.  Jealously guard the jewel, which is liberty . . .

P.S.  My original point is that there's no use in singling out all Arabs--the majority of them in this country came here because they were fleeing the very things that are our enemy.  There is, without doubt, enemy infiltrators here, and we need to be ever vigilant in watching for them.  I would only encourage caution.

Edited cuz I caint spel.

The stated intent of Operation Tips is to increase the intelligence gathering to aid in the war on terrorism, on our own soil. If you read between the lines, you could make a great case for detecting suspicious activities of individulas currently at war with the US, (read ARABS!).

But.... would a national, or regional law enforcement agency pass up on good intel regarding illegal activities of common criminals? No, they will use any good intel to "bust perps".

From this situation, it is but a small step to these local agencies getting bad intel from Operation Tips personnel that are in a fight with their girlfriend, or hate their boss, or want to see someone go down for a crime they committed.

This is indeed a slippery slope!

A friend of mine who is in the FBI said that after 9/11, they received all sorts of "tips", reporting "suspicious Arab men".
Most of these "tips" came from areas in and around Jersey City, Patterson, and Trenton.

They looked into all "tips", and guess what?

MOST of the "suspicious Arab men" were indeed SUSPICIOUS ARAB MEN. Many we're illegal aliens, some had ties to terror org.s.

Yes, it is, but when it is propagandized, and harped on constantly by the government, then it will become more insidious and pervasive, IMHO.

What do you mean?

For clarification, to me, the most worrisome aspect is not a national organization tasked to generate intel on the BG's. (We ARE at war against a group of people that express repeatedly the desire to see America destroyed.) Use of all tools at our disposal is indicated and needed. But, the worrisome aspect is that unscrupulous "officials" and Operation Tips personnel would have the opportunity for personal misuse of the system.

Just because someone is in a position of authority doe not mean that they are trustworthy. Is there provisions for some sort of Internal Affairs at Operation Tips? If so, what agency is going to oversee the Internal Affairs? And so on and so on.

So far, the rampant governmentalization of an effort has had no appreciable effect on the target problem. (i.e. the War on Drugs) I am harboring little or no hope that this latest attempt will have any measure of success, but rather I am worried that the 'inalienable' rights described by our forefathers will again be the victim.

You've been spending too much time over on DU.  The part in red gives you away--he was legitimately elected.  The only way to create a "dimpled" or "pregnant" chad is to pile five or six of them on top of one another and punch them all at once.  It is impossible to punch one card and not punch it completely out.  Bush nearly lost, but only because the Dem's didn't cheat quite enough.  The whole fiasco was created before the election, because polling data indicated the totals would be close.  The Dems plan nearly worked.

Edit:  See, Cincinnatus, we usually agree!!  [:D]
