Why the fuck is it, that in this day and age, with millions of Americans out of work, the the cable networks are hiring nothing but Brits?
Really, why not hire Americans to play Americans?
Game of thrones
True blood

Because a Boston or Southern accent on Boromir or Sandor Clegane would be fucking retarded, that's why.

They don't have to waste any money on expensive dental insurance like they would if they hired Americans.

Yeah. So for our show, we need 300 extras. Lets get them from another country...
It's not like WE need the $...

Back in colonial times, most Americans had British accents. So get over it. It would be very poor typecasting to have say Robin Hood with a Brooklyn accent.

What about Band of Brothers? Most of the American roles were played by Brits.

But sans accent. Maybe they're better actors.

Always wondered why British and Australian actors could pull off a flawless American accent, but American actors can't speak passable Brit for shit

True Blood uses some Australian actors, not British

pretty much all movies/tv shows like GoT that have a fantasy type setting will cast British actors.  the British accent just works in that setting.  try to imagine the GoT cast with southern drawls, or a NY accent

Retarded Rant.

Or in British.

Rubbish Winge.

Because British actors are better on TV. All your good actors are in films, being paid $10m each time. We Brits pick up the slop with TV like House and Lie to Me.

Because hiring local extras is a fucklot less expensive than hauling a bunch of American extras over to England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany?

The hot blonde chick from She's Out of My League said she grew up watching countless hours of Friends. I doubt very few Americans are exposed to British media during their formative years.

the best thing to ever happen to Canada & New Zealand was unions, high city permit fees & non negotiable salaries.

When people won't budge on their salaries they should always remember Daniel Day Lewis's speach on the docks in gangs of new york.

England has produced some amazing actors. They have a history of treating it as a very serious craft.

Gary Oldman and Stephen Graham come to mind.

"With millions of americans out of work..."

Yeah, I think hiring eight americans to pretend to be from Westeros would really make a dent in the unemployment rate.

Employers don't owe "americans" a darn thing. If american actors want to get hired for parts, they should be better actors, or else should endeavor to act in a way more likely to attract american audiences, whether that's "better" or not.
