The Jesse Jackass protesting gun shops thread made me think of something a wise older gentleman said last week. A young man, in his early 20s I guess, was in the store looking around. Some how the conversation got around to the number of thefts the local crackheads have been committing. The young man glanced around the shop at the guns on display and he made the comment, "Guess you guys don't have to worry about being robbed with all the guns you have on the shelves". It was at that time that the 73yo gentleman sitting at the counter filling out his 4473 spoke up. He looked at the young man and said, "Hell son, it is the guns you DON'T see that you should be worried about. If the time ever comes, it will be those guns under the counter doing the talkin'...." He then went back to finishing his paperwork. I just hope I live long enough and learn enough to one day make it to the "wise old timer" category.....  |
