I like the first song, bought it about a week ago.

I hear a hint of early Sting in his music.

Can't stand them.

This cover, however, is much better than the original:

where's the irishman playing whacka-mole?
6/3/2012 8:28:09 PM EDT

When I first heard it, I though Mana had gone English.

Good vocals.

They overplay the 'Someone I use to know' on the radio stations around here.

Never heard of the guy til I heard this cover of his song.  I prefer the cover to the original.

somebody that I used to know, loved it when I first heard it, now it's gotten way to popular and has been played to death on basically every station on the dial.

I saw them last month.  It was a really good show.  The band "shushed" us for one song.  It was pretty fucking funny.  "Shut up and listen to my art"  HAHA

Grew on me before it became popular and got played every 5 minutes on the radio. Now its quickly un-growing.

Fucking hipsters.

You have any idea how long I thought his name was "Got Ya'??

First song is alright. WIll listen to the second. Definite 80's vibe and goes along with my theory that more and more music sounds like it came from the 80's. Not a bad thing, I guess.

He's got a big mouth. Literally.

Actually a hipster would say they do not like it because everyone else does now....so who is the hipster?

Was okay at first, but the radio stations have run it into the fucking ground and now I change the dial as soon as I hear it.

Ugh. Nothing can destroy a song like the fucking radio. Glad I never listen to it, so I still like this song.

The bar across the street from my store plays that at least 12 times a day. I want to firebomb the place.

But wait, there's more.... "Gotye has scored the longest-running #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Somebody That I Used To Know." So if one hit is good, 10 must be better, right? That seems to be the logic behind the upcoming release of a "Somebody" remix album, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is scheduled to drop on iTunes June 8 and feature reworkings of the song by Adrock, Tiesto, Gang of Colours, Bibio, M-Phazes, Faux Pas, 4Frnt, Sneaker For, Dan Aux and Miami Nights 1984."

I think the video and song are quite brilliant. Better than anything I can think of. The the wince when Kimbra belts it out at him. 238,707,080 views is a bunch

here is the one that put this guy on the map........this video is headed toward a quarter BILLION views............

I am not ashamed to say I wouldn't kick this guy out, unless he wanted to do it on the floor!!!  .........LOVE the tune, and apparently many others do too:

I really didn't want to like Gotye or any of his songs.

You can't always get what you want.

The Sting vibe sucked me in, and the duet with Kimbra was brilliant as a commercial hook.

Is this why he reminds you of Sting?

True, but I do like that song. I'm not ashamed to admit to liking songs that are far out of my normal "metal" playlist. A good song is a good song.

It ain't their fault the radio ruins good shit.  And fuck it, if the radio wants to play my single until peoples' ears bleed and make me truckloads of money, fine by me.
