If you're looking for a more unique DC experience, go to the Old Ebbitt Grill. It's a block east of the White House.
After your meal, ask for the manager to give you a restaurant and rooftop tour. Bring your camera. Fogo de Chao is a chain, and the Ebbitt is a piece of history. (No affiliation, just a big fan.) |

Been to the one in Atlanta....Good stuff, I've always enjoyed my meals there. IMO, it's a restaurant to go with a small group as opposed to a 'date' restaurant. |

| Amazing food. Really. Been to Fogo in 6-7 different cities. Unfortunately, the DC location was my least favorite. Maybe I went there on an off day. If you haven't been to any, you'll probably love it and won't know the difference. Although, if you can, try the locations in Baltimore or Philadelphia instead. |
The salad bar is about the best I've ever seen, and the cheesy bread is like crack  But fuck that, you're there for MEAT! Get a handful of cheesy bread from your waiter on the way out for when you're hungry again in a few days Drinks are expensive Used to have one next to my office, lunch is a mistake if you have anything planned the rest of the day  |

Very awesome.
I must warn you though. You know that feeling you have after eating a huge meal? Multiply that by 10 and that's how you'll feel. I think it's from the variety of meat, not necessarily the quantity. So don't plan on doing anything like a movie or hot air balloon ride after. Just go back to the hotel and crash. You'll wonder why you ever bothered with the New York style steakhouses. |

ETA: Loved it, best Brazilian churiscwhatever place I've been to. Excellant, but of course pricey. Are you talking suit and tie or dress pants and dress shirt? I can't say for sure; at lunch I happened to be wearing a business suit for work rather than the occasion. We were not out of place in business attire for a weekday lunch but it wasn't required. Still, I don't think shorts would cut it; the place is really nice (keep an eye out for congress criters, ambassadors, etc.). |
