Annular eclipse! > General Discussion

We're a little off center, so we're not seeing the whole ring. I don't have the right equipment, so the best I could do was try to capture the funny looking shadows...

Shadows on the outside wall of my house:

Shadows on the door inside - sun shining through the shutters.

A few min from full here (87%!) or something.

It is foggy with a marine layer so we can look right at it with no problems.

I was using binoculars to project and then saw same thing on the side of my house

Looks like its been heading back to normal for a bit now. We almost had a full ring but didn't hit it.

If it is still blocked a some at sunset it should be sweet. Red orange sun over the ocean and an eclipse.

Am trying to get pics right now... Will post if I get some.

We got the full ring. It was pretty neat. Looked at it through a doubled up set of welding glasses.

The "c" shaped shadows on your house. We thought that those were just the Sun casting shadows through the trees... It was the Sun! Awesome.

We saw the c shaped marks on the ground and the wall as well.

I looked at all of the shadows around me cast by trees and other objects and I saw nothing like that. Too bad, I was kind of looking forward to it.

My brother is an amateur astronomer, and got me a safe viewer panel; I could look directly at the sun. It was awesome! Here in NM we were in the path of totality.

I was about 30 miles south of ABQ. The totality could be viewed as far south as Truth or Consequences (about 50 miles further south).
