Went camping and shooting over the weekend. I wore sneakers, shorts and a shirt. I used bug spray to keep the mosquitos at bay and figured the deet would keep the chiggers away as well. I was wrong. I got bites on my feet only. All of the exposed skin was left untouched. I have close to 50 bites on my feet and they are driving me insane.
I have been using OTC Hydrocortisone cream to keep the itch to a minimum, but it is still pretty bad. I went so far as to put some bleach on a towel and wipe my feet and ankles down which has seemed to work for a little while. An hour or so I took a Zyrtec as well. Not sure if it is helping. Anyone got any good remedies for chigger bites? |

The trick is ChiggerX.......it's in a white and red tub in the pharmacy/wal-mart. ETA: It will change your world. ChiggerX is just benzocaine, a topical anesthetic. Not saying it doesn't work (it does!), but it's not some magic elixir. I usually use hydrocortisone and benzocaine. That, or get the carving knife out of the drawer and just start slicing off skin. |

The best stuff I have ever used is a home brew mix made by a pharmacist in in the small town of Jacksboro, TX. He calls it Summer Gel. The pharmacy is "City Drug Store" The ranchers also swear by it. It's a blend of Diphenhydramine HCI, Pramoxine HCI, Hydrocortisone Acetate, Menthol, Camphor, and some other stuff. Knocks the itch out almost immediately. |

Quoted: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^I rub some of my wife's antiperspirant on them. In about two minutes the itching has stopped. It is free and easy for you to try, right now. She actually bought a tube of un-scented deodorant for me to use specifically for chiggers. thisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthisthis ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ works like a champ. i find the greasier stuff like right guard or speedstick works slightly better
