Do I have to go with the Aimpoint Magnifier or are there other options?

There's plenty of knock offs.  Primary Arms is probably the best of that bunch.  I don't know if you have used that setup before but it really adds a lot of weight.  I ditched all of that jazz and went to a magnified optic for about the same amount of money.

I think the Vortex unit works as well, and I've been VERY happy with everything I've purchased from them.

Well I bought that Aimpoint PSA had on sale(major impulse buy). I have yet to install it on my M4gery and zero it in but now I"m thinking I need some type of magnification

This.  I have a VMX3 and it is quite good IMO

I have a Larue Po'Boy setup and am happy with it.  Not a 3x magnifier (only 2x) but it works great for me and the optics are rock solid (old RPG - I think - reticles that Larue repurposed).

You can hit 12 inch targets at 300yards with an aim point if you work at it.  I'm not a fan of magnifiers.

Should have just gone with a variable power scope.

If you're a cheap ass pick up a millet 1-4 for $250(???) or a Trijicon accupoint 1-4 for $850.
