I liked them best when they had Marty Friedman and Nick Menza (one of my favorite drummers). This is one of my favorite Megadeth tunes... Yep, saw them twice on the Cryptic Writings tour. Money well spent. I don't go to concerts anymore but Megadeth is one band on a short list that I might consider. |

Just saw them a few months ago on Gigantour. Wound up just a few feet from the stage right in front of Mustaine. It was a great show. Only problem was that the microphone volume during their set was set somewhere around 1, so until the last few songs his vocals were unintelligible until near the end, just in time for Peace Sells.
One of my favorites... Megadeth - Last Rites/Loved to Death |

Quoted: Trust was definitely a highlight of the show. I got lucky and caught them in a small venue (around 1500 capacity). It was rocking show but only a little over an hour long. That must've been great! They do short shows, I think, to preserve Dave's voice. He was a bit of a mess (vocally) during the Big 4 tour. |

when I first clicked on the vid I was amazed that so many young kids would go see Megadeth. Then I saw it was in Bulgaria.
I guess unless you wear your jeans hanging off your ass, shout rhymes that have been cliched for the past 20 years and steal your riffs/beats from 80s R&B acts, US kids aren't interested. Never gave Megadeth listening time. That vid and the crowd energy was pretty cool. Going to do some iTune and youtube research on them. |

Now if you're talking something like obscure black metal, then yeah, that's way out of the mainstream and not a lot of kids go see it. /23 year old who goes to bigger and bigger metal shows once or twice a week |

Is ANY type of metal able to attract crowds like in the OP's vid in Bulgaria? I know E Europeans still like metal and rock. Don't know about US markets. |

Is ANY type of metal able to attract crowds like in the OP's vid in Bulgaria? I know E Europeans still like metal and rock. Don't know about US markets. I think the difference there is the size of the country in question and the number of shows played in said country. We have 20-30 stop tours here in the states when bands come play. Bulgaria gets one show. If those countries were broken down on tour, they wouldn't have such large crowds either. But yeah, there are some metal bands that will pull crowds like that, especially on festival dates. Metallica still sells out arenas when they play. Iron Maiden still sells out areas when they play. But what I am seeing now (been going to shows since I was 14 or so) is bigger and bigger crowds at metal shows. Used to be that you'd see the same group of 75-100 kids at a show. Now we're starting to see more like 250-500, sometimes upwards of 1,000 if the band is really popular (like Opeth). Thrash is undergoing a resurgence right now, and I think the crowds will only keep going up in size. |

Quoted: Quoted: I saw them during the Youthanasia tour in the valley. They played a great show even if, vocally, Dave Mustaine is the Bob Dylan of heavy metal. I actually prefer Megadeth to Metallica. ![]() Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile You're not alone. You sir are showing your wisdom again 3 words: high speed dirt.

Great stuff. |

I got to see them live twice.
One was when they were on tour with Slayer and Testament. They played the entire Rust in Piece album with some of their other hits. They were awesome. The other time was at the Big 4 show in Yankees Stadium. Missed half their set as they went on first but they were really good again. |

Cliff era Metallica did write some classics, and just about everything on "Kill 'em All" had the Mustaine touch. |

I'd have to count the ticket stubs, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them 9 times over the years since the first show I got to see on Clash of The Titans tour. I'm a big fan, to say the least. Every show has an encore, and at the end, Dave always thanks the fans for coming. He's a class act.
Dave's live vocals are not studio-quality; but then again, you're not seeing Milli-Vanilli either. The guy turns 51 this year, and has probably spent half his life either on the road or in rehab. I'd rather pay hard-earned cash to go see Megadeth than take a free ticket to see most other bands. I remember one show years ago where Friedman began an extended solo while the rest of the band went backstage. After about 4 minutes, Friedman threw his arms in the air and gave the crowd a WTF? look as the solo continued. Mustaine walked around the corner blazing away; he had been playing the solo for some time, but was so seamless no one could tell the difference. On top of that, he believes that you, me, and everyone else has the right to carry a gun to protect themselves......... |
