I have this recurring nightmare that I'm back in college and that I totally slacked on a class. I completely just didn't bother going, and then the final shows up, and then...I wake up.
Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? I have that nightmare every now and then. Sad thing is that it's grounded in my now-distant reality.

Classic anxiety dream. Go shooting, or do something physically grueling - should fix things for a bit. Wait until you're chased relentlessly by a swarm of tornadoes and the car you're fleeing in suddenly turns into a plastic child's wagon when you pass through a tunnel. |

I have the EXACT same nightmare.
When I was in college, I took a French Lit class (it was a core requirement). I couldn't stand the required reading, and got through the class on Cliff Notes. My recurrent dream is that I'm showing up for the final after blowing off almost every class that semester, and I have no idea what's going on. |

Or even worse you managed to escape a north vietnamese pow camp and even secured an m60 machine gun but when you turn to shoot the gun shoots only water! |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? I have the almost the same one except in mine, I did go to a few of the classes, and it's the day before the final. All I need to do is open my locker and get out my book/notes and study..but I don't remember the combo, and If I tell anyone they will "know" that I didn't use it daily...

You really don't want to know what goes on in my fucked up head. Just feel lucky it is only about messing up a class. Same here... Reoccurring dreams about killing burglars, and my father being disappointed in me, or pissed off. Get's gory, but the perp's never die... My friend has a similar dream to yours... I think it might be anxiety about where you are in you life and not being where you thought you would be,. |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? Yeah. They involve falling and then waking up when I hit the ground, a gun that won't shoot straight or at all, can't pull the trigger, or not being able to run. I do get failed/kicked out of college dreams on occasion. College is pretty stressful for me so my sleep patterns are all messed up. I will be glad to be done. |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? Tell you what: You find an answer, you let me know. I've been having them for over thirty years. |

I get those nightmares everytime I have to make sure I wake up on time for an event. sucks.
sometimes the nightmare is me not remembering what class I am supposed to go to at a certain hour and I'm late, or only just remembering that I signed up for a class and it's already mid term. |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? I don't know how to embed, but this scene of Val Kilmer in "Top Secret" will let you know that other people share your dream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0g7VoRQPswg |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? Yes, and not too different from yours, Deej. In my first year of college, I took a a literature class where we had to read a book of about 25 short stories. I didn't keep up with the reading, but went to a review class before the final where the stories were discussed. The final exam was one essay question about one story, and it was one I never read. Decades later, I don't think I've ever had a worse feeling in my gut. There was no way of faking it, BS'ing it, nothing. I sat there for about thirty minutes and turned in a blank exam book. Sickest feeling I've ever had, and every few years it reappears in a nightmare. |

Anyone ever have recurring nightmares like that? I've had those type of dreams for the last 20 years. My wife has them too. I think it has to do with the high level of anxiety in college and the fact that you are personally responsible for your success/failure for the first time in your life at that age. If that makes sense. Those dreams are some of the most realistic dreams I've ever had. I wake up in a sweat thinking I totally missed an entire semester of some class. |
