So I filed my taxes back in February on the 23rd, according to the IRS "where's my refund" status page my tax paperwork has been recieved and is being processed.

Anyone know why it is taking so long to be processed and a refund issued?

I have a feeling it might be the turbotax site I used, but I filed state taxes the same way and I recieved my $50 refund in a matter of a couple weeks.

I used turbotax to do my taxes then printed it all off and mailed it in, I could not file electronically because the SSI office had my birthdate wrong( I fixed this a couple days after i learned of it).

Any idea on what the holdup could be ? Or a phone # I could call and talk to a live person at IRS and get this figured out.

Good luck. I filed my return the end of Jan. and still haven't received my refund
Where's my Refund said i would receive it no latter than 20 Mar. That day came and went and still nothing. Now where's my refund says it's being processed

I called every phone number i could find for the IRS, even two local ones and all i get is the same recording in a Lady's voice and no real person
If i owed money they'd be hounding me for it and charging interest or sending the swat team out for me. I wonder if i can do the same thing to them

Sorry, it's the government.

protip: Adjust your withholding so that at the end of the year you either break even or owe to the IRS.  No reason to give the Government an interest free loan.

EDA: Sorry, I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use this MIME, and your thread fit the bill

They're so backed up, it's going to take a while.

I've got several clients that filed in early February that don't have their refund either.

I honestly believe the "Where's my refund" status is an approximation. That approximation is based on an IRS worker doing "X" number of returns per hour, etc.. The real status should read "We don't have a clue. We'll get it to you when we get it to you. By the way, don't forget to pay your estimated taxes because the .gov needs your funds."

I don't think calling them is going to do much good unless you talk to the drone processing your return. And you know your chance of that happening, right?

I have found that when you efile, it speeds things up greatly.

I efiled my taxes on April 16th and according to where's my refund, I should have it on or before April 25th direct deposited into my bank account.

One year I could not efile and had to mail it in, it took much longer.

Paper return mailed in?  Yeah - give it some more time.  Even e-filing is taking longer to get refunds than in the past.  If you don't have it in a month, then I would start to worry about it.  Until then, they are probably just backed up.

I filed an extension, but they were certainly timely in pulling my extension payment out of my bank account exactly on time.    Priorities, eh?

I had my e-file in like 2 weeks or something stupid. They are probably just behind. All those new jobs Obama created.

Sent check the 16th and they still haven't cashed it yet.   Quantisha and her 9 kids be havin' to wait on their new flat screen upgrade.

I remember something in the news a while ago about Turbo Tax having some software issue that caused some problem with the IRS computer.

not sure if this is it or like everyone else said..they just backed up...but you filed in Feb..long before the rush..you should have it by now.

Things were even slow for those of us that filed back in January.  I imagine that's only gotten worse.

That's actually a relief, I was starting to think my refund had been "heisted".

I too filed in mid-February.

It's not a big refund, so I can wait.

I would be ticked at being the victim of thievery however.

Yeah, its not a huge refund for me just a couple hundred bucks so i can wait. I uaually end up paying in at the end of the year so i was shocked when I got a refund.

Glad to know i'm not the only one that's still waiting for a refund.
