Not sure how the hawk makes it cooler.

I used to fly RC gliders at the beach near Torrance, CA. The birds would frequently attack the airplanes!

Damnit, that makes me want to look into paragliding.

I seriously looked at getting into hanggliding a couple years ago, but decided the cost was too high at the time.  I'm getting closer to being debt free (save for the mortgage), and might could take up a kick ass hobby like paragliding.

What doesn't a hawk make cooler?

Some of these guys will strap a gas-powered fan to their backs and fly under power! There's a guy in Los Lunas who does this frequently. As soon as he puts the throttle in, his parachute opens behind him and he's off the ground.

Powered paragliding would be fun.  Expensive, tho.  Looking at some local clubs for training and such, and they say that unpowered, you're looking at about $5000 to get to where you can solo.
