I'm due for a new phone and I'm thinking about the Bionic. Verizon is my carrier.
Going to stay with android. Not going to get one of the Razrs because they cost too much. Tell me about the Bionic of you have one. |
| Fast phone, if you get it defiantly get the extended battery. My gripe with the phone is the data connection loss that happens a lot when going from a 4g area to a 3g area, and sometimes I have a data signal on my phone but am unable to connect; I either have to wait a minute or two or restart my phone. It's incredibly annoying, especially when it's not getting data and your trying to use the gps on the go. Overall it's a huge improvement from my old droid x but I would look into the latest and greatest phone now instead of getting a phone that has known issues and is already outdated. |

Always wondered about this, still 3G here. Can you set the phone to stay 3G? Sorry for the thread drift. |
| I have the Bionic. I love it personally, but do run the extended battery, and have a spare ext and spare std battery. 4G is great in the CLT area, is wicked fast in many areas, I won't be going back to a non-4g device in the future. Accessories are cheap via Amazon––when I got the phone I got one ext batt with case and batt-only charger very cheap with a gov discount via vzw. I do not have much in the way of complaints at all. I have not had any real issues with 4g/3g data connectivity loss, knock on wood. I've had the phone since Jan. |

But I'll take the added pain to have 4g anyday |

The HTC Rezound is $49 now. Amazing price for a 4g phone. Beautiful display, great reception, I don't have many complaints about it. I generally like Motorola products, but I think the Bionic is a little older now and it doesn't have the same display and processor as some of the newer VZW phones. What's your budget for upgrading?
|
| just got one today from verizon ––my incredible 2 's charging port went south and I was due for an upgrade anyway––so I have only had it a few hours so far but I like it, a little different user interface from the HTC but the call quality is better and I like the 4G speed alot more |
| Keeping the phone in 4G will kill my battery within 8 hours even with minimal usage. If I keep in on 3G only, kill the wifi and bluetooth then I get 24 hours life on the battery. The screen isn't as vivid as alot of phones and the case construction is cheap flimsey plastic, but the phone is fast, fairly stable and call quality is decent. |

I;d like to keep it at under $100. I can get a Bionic for $70. The Rezound runs $170 (and this is the discount pricing) |

I picked up a Bionic from Tiger Direct a few weeks ago to replace an aging Droid 2, for $29 and a contract extension. The good. Very fast and smooth. Large, bright display that's easily viewable in bright sunlight (important to me). Replaceable battery (again, very important to me) Removable memory card. Very good radio, even in low signal strength areas (another big plus for me). Great sounding voice calls and good speakerphone. Solid build quality. Foxfi works and LTE is as fast as my cable internet. Easily rooted Will eventually get ICS. The bad. The phone runs hot. Not burning hot, but it's not comfortable sticking it back in a pocket after a heavy downloading or gaming session. Battery life. If you're a heavy user you're either going to need to charge it a couple of times a day or, like me, make use of spare or extended batteries. Camera. Using a better camera app helps a lot, but it's not a great camera. Locked bootloader. A big negative to some people, but not to me. I'm very happy with the phone, it's got everything that's really important to me and none of it's negatives are a big deal to me. |
I love mine coming off a 1st Gen Moto Droid...............I am 3G only and phone has had 4G disabled from the start and I still have to power it off/on at least once a day to reset data......Reviews all address that and I just did'nt read them....... Other than the data loss (pretty aggrivating) it's on badass when it comes to multitasking and capabilites............Get it or the Razor.....I only use Motorola Phones and have for over 15 years now with great success.
ETA: If you get the Otter Box Defender it will more than double the thickness of the phone but works pretty fucking welll |

I have had mine now for a few days and so far I like it - now I have some apps set up on it and got things customized as i like it. No problems with battery life yet but I watch how many apps are running. Have not noticed it getting hot or anything like that. The windshield mount verizon sold me broke today |
