Quoted: Not as smart as he imagines himself to be. Like most celebrities, he should stick to acting/comedy/singing and not talk. He's pretty smart by most standards. Or do you mean you simply disagree with him but your ego requires you to smack him down to feel better about yourself - much as he predicts an extremist would act? What he is saying is an excellent summary of the situation in the time and place it was written. I'd say much of it can still hold true today. |

Those poor poor moderates, hated by all, loved by none, righteous in their own eyes. More often than not, useful idiot is a better term than moderate though. Useful idiots generally fall into the left camp, just not as far left. Not really, moderates tend to be the ones that can be persuaded either way, depending on how they "feel." That's a sorry way to go thru life, shifting your core beliefs with the wind. If you ever get really involved in politics, They train you to knock on the doors of people who don't vote in primaries. They are the most likely to be persuaded. |

The only real difference seems to be that churches are on the left in England, while they're on the right in America. |

Yes, John, hating commies means I am a paranoid schizoid. ![]() Strange how closely his ad hominem attack on his enemies mirrors the classic commie tactic. I feel embarrassed for him that he felt this speech was worthy of a television performance. |

That assumes one dimension, which is certainly not the case for most issues involving politics. The truth is not somewhere on a line between two extremes, it is well off to the side. |

Any speeches, essays, articles, etc that he's done in a more serious light than his usual stuff? |

Do you believe they don't exhibit error or emotion, or that they are not extremists? http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1311371_Obama_Lawyer_Admits_Birth_Certificate_Forgery.html |

Strange how closely his ad hominem attack on his enemies mirrors the classic commie tactic. I feel embarrassed for him that he felt this speech was worthy of a television performance. So obviously you consider yourself an extremist... since that's who he is referring to. I fail to see how any rational person would take it to imply that hating commies = paranoid schizoid. However, someone suffering from paranoid schizophrenia may well be inclined to assume everyone and everything is referring to them... Something to think about.

Quoted: I don't believe that session was recorded. It was a small group discussion involving entertainment industry people, and he and his daughter (Camilla, maybe) were guests that evening. To sum it up, he related his journey from studying law, to following his dreams in the entertainment industry. He also related that he re-wrote all of his parts, from the Monty Python works, to Fawlty Towers and on through the Pink Panthers. He mentioned that he insists on being able to re-write his parts and won't take parts where this is not agreed. As talented as he is as an actor and comedian, I was actually surprised to learn he is much more of a writer. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Not as smart as he imagines himself to be. Any speeches, essays, articles, etc that he's done in a more serious light than his usual stuff? When I say he was highly intelligent, he was able to spin questions from the group in a very witty way, going on for several minutes on many topics, and had the group rolling with laughter. The subject of politics did come up a couple of times, and there were some sardonic remarks about the current administration and the media. He could very easily be a conservative though it was not the sort of audience where one would "come out" about that. -Sven ETA - as creative as he is, he does not seem to be emotionally oriented, like many of the creatives in the entertainment industry. |

I fail to see how any rational person would take it to imply that hating commies = paranoid schizoid. I fail to see that also, but that's the connection he made. |
