I have a teacher that I hate, I've bitched about her here before. Today she said America was stupid because we invested in interstate instead of public trasnportation. She said we did this because we had a "stupid" notion of self-reliance, and wanted to be able to go where we wanted when we wanted. I told her this wasn't europe, and trains don't really make as much sense here, and that places that have gone to such systems found they actually run slower and aren't cost effective. She laughed and told me i didn't know what I was talking about  This bitch is always going on about Communism, Marxists, and Che Guevera, she always harps on being pro abortion and anti gun, I fucking hate her. Fuck college, still have another year  |
| Ask her if she really understands how much space there is between places in this country? A train might take you to Denver, but not to Aspen. Oh, and being pro abortion and anti gun, she seems to represent a self correcting non repeating problem, so no big deal, its just one of those things which will take care of itself. |
| You can also tell her that the minute any self-respecting German or Frenchman starts earning a good salary, the first thing they do is go out and buy a car so they won't have to sit on the streetcar or train to go to work or play anymore. People just want to be free. |

You could also add a poll to your thread; we'll vote whether she's a moron, ignoramus, etc. With any luck, her fragile ego will melt down after you show her the results. |
| She's an idiot the interstate was created for defense of our nation after WWII so we could quickly move troops/equipment from north to south, east to west, it has nothing to do with what she is talking about. Get your facts straight and it's easier to make good arguments, because if she ever stops watching MSNBC long enough to pick up a book she will find these things called facts. This is why all the bridges have to be a certain height so that military equipment can pass underneath. Also isn't the UK rather small, and not near as geographically diverse when compared to the US. Can you even imagine the cost of putting trains everywhere. Also I still have good grades and will routinely tell liberal professors they are full of shit, when they are, but you better have facts to back up your statements or their is no point in saying anything. Countering liberal BS with GOP BS doesn't work. Luckily I live in one of the most conservative states in the US so I rarely have to listen to liberal crap. But this also sucks because 95% of the women won't put out until marriage. |

The Interstate is loosely modeled on the Autobahn(OMG that's in Europe!) with the original purpose of helping to increase the speed of which the military could move around the country. From a cargo transport perspective you need highways, public transportation can't get goods from point a to point b. You need trucks on highways to pick stuff up from facilities to bring it to the other modes (airports, marine terminals, rail yards, etc.) and vice versa. Trucks also offer flexibility and speed that rail doesn't, and goes to many places that rail never will go. And to top it off trucks are extremely efficient at moving cargo up to 200 miles (I might be off, it's been a while) before it really competes with other modes. Although this is not to say that rail sucks, I wish it would see even more use for containerized traffic. Remind her that there is much more to transportation than just moving people. |

+1 Not only that but President Eisenhower declared that there would be 1 straight mile of interstate highway for every 15 or 20 miles, can't remember the exact figure, to facilitate landing military planes on if necessary. |

I've only had two classes with professors that put their liberal ideas out in class, a history class and a political science class. In the history class I went round after round proving my point and got an A in the class. In my political science class, I even managed to elicit a deer in the headlight look from the professor by debunking his point. |

I've only had two classes with professors that put their liberal ideas out in class, a history class and a political science class. Some people just need to keep their ego in control and quit trying to sound smarter than everyone else when they clearly are not. This is why I quit going to college. |

| You can't put her in her place, you can't win an argument, you just need to pass and move on. This is a great training tool for you, greater than the English class and the grade you get. The training you get in that class will help you get through corporationy meetings where the boss or a person much higher up in the company is selling you a bill of goods that resembles smoke up your anus, or is so far off course that it will never work in the real world but is the newest fad in how corporations do business. You can sit there with an interested look on your face, exuding a can do attitude, all the while knowing they are full of shit and you won't ever institute their practices but will put on a good face to keep your job. |

I am on a faculty full of these fuckers and I was only hired because I had the engineering background they needed to teach in my small department, which is admittedly less liberal than the rest of the university. I am both a Vietnam vet and retired career military. They only hired me because I would work for a very low salary. I won't get away from these idiots until I retire or die.
