Diet Coke - Fail

Diet Coke w/ fake lime flavor - Uber fail

Using it for mixing drinks - No alcohol deserves that fate

I've got a bottle of that on my bar, and between that and Flor de Cana, I choose the nicaraguan rum.  It comes across as smoother and more flavorful.  But then again, I am still nursing my way through that Havana Club...

Bacardi FTW
Puerto Rico if you want rum.
And in before EdSr et al say that Bacardi is Cuban.
That's just crazy.

Is it good?  Not really.
Can you get it here?  I doubt it, I got it into the country with my last cocaine shipment.

Diet lime Coke is fucking delicious.

Flor De Cana 12 years old - is what I drink now - would never mix it with coke or put ice in it!

When I'm drinking rum I usually drink Captain Morgan Private stock.

Bacardi 8 with crushed ice and a lime wedge paired with a Montecristo Churchill is what summer evenings are all about.

I want to try different rums, but it seems everybody is on the spiced rum kick, and I cant stand that shit.

No aspartame with liquor, by the way.

I started seeing Brugal Extra Viejo in stores recently.  That's decent rum.

They only imported the paint thinner grades for a long time, but EV is their top of the line.

I have a little captain around here somewhere

Lately I have been on the spiced run kick (sorry, but I like it) and I switched to Cruzan, very tastey.  Just last week I ran out and decided to try a bottle of Goslings "Black seal" rum and it is indeed very black.  It isn't spiced but it is good.  I mixed it with some fruit punch/mango stuff the kids had in the fridge and it made me realize that mixing with fruit juice is what rum is all about.  Now where is my blender?   And oh yea, watching "Last of the Mohicans" right now.  Magua was a bad ass mofo and I want one of those throwing things that they used.

really?  I will need to check my local Binny's - I liked Brugal a lot when I was in Dominican Republic!

It's got the yellow fishnet stocking on it like the Dominican EV bottles, but the label is black.  Different from the ones I bought there.

p.s.  Does anyone know who carries the Ron Rico Bacardi trademark-ripoff Havana Club (i.e. domestic HC)?  Have been looking for a while.

I have had Havana Club 7 Anos and thought is was less than stellar.  But that's just me.  I like Koloa rum, from on Kauai...

and these, which were lost in a series of small fires... sad, so very sad.

Cruzan Blackstrap and mexican Coke for me.

I like the "Anejo Especial" on that bottle. My wife says I turn into a "Special A Hole" when I drink rum, she'll be glad to know the bottles now come with a warning.

I love Appleton's Estate 12 year old. I bring back a couple of bottles from Jamaica every year.

I'm also a big fan of Dos Maderias 5x5. It's a Spanish rum, 10 years old, and is absolutely lovely.

Cheers!

No... it's the real deal if it has the Made in Cuba stickers... Look towards the bottom of these 2 bottles in the pic the OP posted.

I have three bottles of Havana Club Anejo from my time in Mexico.

Still wouldn't dream of using it in a Rum and Coke, let alone one made with Diet Coke.

They were.    Bought them in the airport in Kuwait.  A friend just picked up another 5-pack in Amman, Jordan.. Siglio II's, IIRC.

The Maduro Magico was very nice, but would have been better with a glass of whisky than coffee.  So much for Kuwaiti rules about al key haul.  :-(
