Why did you shoot it like that? Afraid it was going to blow up or something?

sad to see that fine rifle butchered your rifle and you can do as you wish with it, but still sad to see history destroyed I don't see a problem with it. It's a Mauser. There are millions of them out there, in much better condition than that one appears to be. You can get them dirt cheap if you shop around. If it's a rare variant or something, that's one thing. But just another Mauser off the used rack? I don't see the cause for concern if someone wants to customize one. It's not like there are only a few left in existence. |

I was being semi serious about the extended mag and some kind of sight. There's a member here who posted pics of an old short barrel Mauser or something that he stuck an extended mag on and painted a bio hazard symbol on the stock. Thing was badass. That is the thread that put the idea in my head. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=1261880 |

It's not like there are only a few left in existence. Fixed circa 1960. If it was in really crappy condition or already halfway Bubba'd, whatever. In that case, do what you have/want to to get it shooting (I'm in a similar boat with a Remington 03A3). There's a reason this is generally frowned upon, though. |

It was bad enough. If I wanted to turn it back to original it would have taken all these parts.
Bolt body Barrel Plug the receiver holes Stock Buttplate w/ both screws Upper barrel band Lower barrel band Band spring Front sight and post Rear sight and post, plus set screws and silver solder. Bayonet lug Bayonet lug pin Handguard Both guard capture screws. |

Now it gets a new lease on life that doesnt involve anyone named Bubba or Elmer. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s122/cr74nva/IMG_1795.jpg Then have at it. It's your rifle, come up with something new |

I can see that I shouldn't post photos of my #1,Mk 3 Enfield. It's a 1913 BSA that spent the last 12 years as a barreled action sitting in the corner with all my fishing poles, take off barrels and cleaning rods.
The barrel is short about 1/2 inch, apparently to get good rifling at the crown. It wouldn't fit in a military stock as it is now. I finally got tried of it being totally useless and put an ATI plastic stock on it so I could SHOOT it. Doesn't look TOO bad IMO. Total $ = about 100.00 I won't post a pic, it will save the milspec guys some heartburn. Don in Ohio |

Ignore the haters. They "only" made 15 million of them. Plenty of untouched examples still out there. |
