The Celestron Amoeba that I ordered came in today and the daughter and I have been having fun with it.

So far we have looked at some of the included prepared slides like onion skin and rabbit hair.

Then we looked at our fingers. Man my hands have sure been beat up over the years.

Looked at a 5 dollar bill. Did you know there are eagles on the depiction of the Lincoln Memorial?
There are skulls on there too.

I don't have a digital microscope, but I did use my 10 year old digital scanner to get this pic of a bee stinger I pulled out of my arm.

I just picked one of the Celestron Amoeba microscopes up for my son. Here are a few pics we took of gunpowder from some steel case 7.62x39. The first one is at 60x and the second at 200x.

At least they are cheap. Like $74 at Amazon.

If anyone else can think of any cool gun related stuff, or even not gun related stuff, to get pics of, LMK and I'll gladly take pics and post.

I use microscopes at work every day.
I gotta see if I can pull up the photo series I did using the Olympus BH-2 w/trinoc head.
That scope is my favorite set up for polarized light. Pretty amazing what you can find
out with one of these. We also have CH-2's and a couple of new Nikons that others love
but I hate.

Dangit, that looks like another thing I want to play with. I have some old core memory I'd like to take a peek at closely, but I know a Google Image Search would be so much cheaper.
