I am 32 I have had 2 cavties in my life. At my last dental exam they found 8 small ones. WTF! Dentist recommended giving up (diet) soda because of the acid and chewing Trident XtraCare with recalldent. Basically it contains a enamel building milk derived calcium compound in it. Well I guess I over did it because I have been having the worst case of the shits with all the xylitol. Any other tips for fighting cavities?

Regular trident doesn't give me the shits, and the dentist is ok with it.

Staying hydrated is a big one for me. I have chronic dry mouth and it gets downright desiccated if I'm not pounding water. I blame it on the English side of the family. Most of them didn't have any teeth remaining after age 40 . My father is an exception, but he went through a lot to keep them.

I also chew gum most of the day and rinse with Biotene 2x a day.

Seems to be working well. I didn't have any drill action last dentist visit.

Brushing twice a day and flossing once a day helps too.  It's the exposure time of acidic drinks/foods and carbs to your teeth that causes cavities.  Don't take frequent sips of soda or coffee throughout the day and limit the snacks between meals.

I just had a check up Friday.  No cavities, as usual
