Who makes the smallest auto 45?

Still having a hard time deciding on a "pocket pistol"

Not much for revolvers and I just cant bring myself to get a 9mm. and .40 is just loud and obnoxious.

I recently picked up a Kahr P45 because the price was too good to pass up.  It's the size of a .380, but it's .45 auto.  The PM45 is even smaller than that.

I have an Colt Officer's model 1911. It has a 3.5" barrel. It gets down right rambunctious when loaded with +P ammo. I really don't think I would want anything smaller.

The Semmerling LM4 is a really small one, but it is manually-operated (i.e., not semi-automatic) and feeds from a 4-round mag.

They are pretty small for a .45, but not as small as a P3AT or similar. They're also pretty heavy for a pocket gun.

They aren't cheap used. New production is in the hands of American Derringer, but I have no idea if they are making these at present.

The NRA firearms museum outside DC has a wall with probably 30 Semmerlings on it. I've never seen so many in one place.

semi PM45

Single shot, FP-45

eta PM45 requires some large pockets to carry. Jeans you will be dead before you can draw the gun.

I have a PM45.  It is probably still the smallest semi-auto made.

I saw a post with a 2-shot .45 derringer thing that stores 2 additional rounds in the grip.  Don't remember the maker though.

ETA:  Heizer Doubletap!  Yeah, they look handy.  I mean, tiny and concealable.

Maybe the Heizer Double-Tap? I had forgotten that one until you posted. I'm not sure why, but I'd really like to have one of those.

I've shot Talons and Hydra Shok in my 1991A1 Compact, same size as Officer's Model, and it's very pleasant. Shoots better

than an Officer's Model too.

The the DB9 (9mm) is painful to shoot.
Even the LCP 380 can bite you if you're not used to it.

I haven't seen one women shoot these pocket pistols and enjoy it or want to own one.
Fact of the matter is, pocket pistols take some experience to shoot and shoot well.

I couldn't imagine how a true .45 pocket pistol would feel shooting it, they probably will never make one.

And I don't mean AR15.com's version of a pocket pistol, I'm talking about a true pocket pistol.

I was afraid the recoil would be bad in the P45 for an 18 oz gun, but it recoils fairly soft.  I mean really soft.  Softer than the PM9.

There's another one I want. (A Combat Master, not a crappy Pocket 9.)

They aren't as uncommon as you'd expect. I see them on the online auction sites for $750-900 pretty often. I even saw one at a local gunshow, which surprised me.

I played with one once at a gun store. It had the longest, hardest trigger pull I've ever seen on a gun. It may have been an honest 20-lb pull.

Those are also pretty chunky.

The Star M45 is a member of compact .45 pistol generation 1.  It is pretty small, but being made of meaty milled steel is heavier than some full sized guns.  It is the proof the polymer is not a bad thing.  This is not a recommendation, just showing one model.

I've never picked one up . The trigger on the 380 aint too bad , for what it is .

Like this:  (That's right, 3 pounds empty)  I dig modern Star pistols, and have a few even though they aren't competitive with 'tier 1' stuff.  My favorite is the 30M.

I know I feel a lot more confident with .45.  If I'm going to be trading round for round with somebody, I want my rounds to be the big ones.

I don't own one, but the Glock 30 seems tempting.  I did at one time own a Springer Ultra-Compact V-10:

The porting covered like half of the barrel and made it pleasant to shoot.  Loved carrying that thing.  It was like a lazer. . . . .or maybe a nuclear lazer:

Shooting it in low light wasn't very fun.
