Hey guys to start this off ill give a lil back story on how i got this info. Every morning on my way into work i stop into a local gas station and either fill up the car or get a cheap cup of coffee to get the wheels turning. I'd guess you'd say im a regular. Well conversations with the attendant have been struck up on just about everything and guns have been brought up plenty of times, i told him while waiting on the coffee machine that i just picked up a new Glock 19 gen 4, he replies with the "ya i have a 26 for my carry". Didnt think anything of it. well today i go in there and mention that i finally got the paper work finished on getting my CCW. Well the attendant then spills his guts

Attendant: I probably shouldnt be telling you this, but i dont have my concealed, hell i cant even own a gun
Me: What do you mean how the hell'd ya get your 26 then
Attendant: Oh you know i had my girlfriend pick it up for me
Me: OH...well whats the reason with that?
Attendant: A felony charge...

Well at this point the conversation stops cause he read the "thats fucked up and not right" facial expression i had. And now im trying to figure out what to do, He appears to be a good guy, i dont know what the felony charges were for. MYOB? or drop a hint to a few officer friends of mine?

If they trust him to be outside of prison we should trust him to be able to protect himself.

Felon - possessing gun - felony 1
girlfriend - straw purchase of gun - felony 2
Felon inducing girlfriend - conspiracy - felony 3

There's plenty of law abiding folks that need that job.  Apparently he can't walk the straight & narrow & is inducing others to commit felonies.  He's not learned his lesson yet.

Straw purchases are exactly the argument that ATF used to launch Fast & Furious, which has killed one Federal agent already, and countless Mexican citizens.  Straw purchases are the rallying cry of the Brady Campaign for gun registration.  This idiot is endangering the rest of us.

I have a future in-law who's a convict, and it kills him he can't bird hunt anymore.  But he follows the rules, and hunts deer & hogs w/ bows.  This guy apparently can't follow the rules.  Sadly, I hope you turn him in.

Gig 'em,

Who's to say he really does cc?  There is no crime in talking it up with a customer.  I'd just leave well enough and keep my conversation to coffee and petrol.

Same.. But on the flipside I would want to know what the felony charge was.

This.

I've never understood, nor agree with, the notion of a felon losing the lawful right to defend himself (read: exercise the 2nd) and vote. If they are able to be reintegrated into society then they should have all the rights/privileges a free man in society enjoys.

Besides, with the stroke of a pen, we gun owners could find ourselves felons overnight by simple possession of firearms. What then? You going to turn yourself in?

Depending upon why and how he is a felon, I would, for the most part, MYOB

The number of felonies on the books is overwhelming and between that and the way prison/jail sentences are almost always suspended for first felonies it leaves cops, judges and prosecutors handing them out like candy. That means virtually anyone can end up with a felony and still serve no time. Being a felon should mean you served at least a year in prison but it no longer means that.
