Can anyone school me on wireless routers? My PC is connected straight into the cable modem and my girl just picked up an ipad2. I would like to still have my desktop directly wired for gaming but also be able for her to use the ipad. What is even the current versions? (I assume N)
Would love to keep it under $100 and I think she has a gift card to Target so if they carry it, even better |

For under 100 bucks you're probably looking at Netgear. |

Quoted: Bite the bullet and get an Apple Airport Extreme, thank me later. I love my Apple products and actually am one of those that adopt everything they have just to see how it works. But... there are better routers if you stream video or play games. While Airports are Grandmother proof and sync with other airports better than other routers, if you have a small space (single family home), the Cisco/Linksys e4200 series. It's the same price or cheaper than the Airport and offers a few more features with just a smidge of extra setup time. |
| I recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320038 this will support anything you own and has great 3rd party firmware support. |

Not looking to spend that much so the Airport is out. Some more info: We live in a single level apartment, so lots of range isn't needed. Comcast is my service provider and I'm not too sure on my connection speed and if that factors when looking. She only really only needs wireless for web-browsing. Only other "wireless" devices we have is her Nintendo Wii and my Iphone (Soon to be a Droid phone) I play games such as BF3 so that's why I would like my PC to stay wired. Don't need parental controls, usb ports ,etc.
From looking around it looks like I want something 802.11N but not sure on single or dual band and it looks like I want something that supports WPA2. Is 2.4Ghz good enough or should I look for 5Ghz? Can the ipad/Wii/iphone even support the 5Ghz? Thanks in advance |

Last time I called Asus (for support on a motherboard I bought) I spoke to a native English speaker that actually knew WTF he was talking about. |
