Holy crap!  I noticed a superhighway of ants in our basement last week, with a metric ass ton of them swarming around a night light in an outlet???  I guess they like the warmth.  Anyway, repeated sprayings in the area seemed to do very little other than kill the ones in the immediate area.  So today, we set out several Terro attractants along their travel path.  This stuff is like a magnet.  I don't like the idea of ATTRACTING ants to an area INSIDE my house, but I have heard and read several great reviews on this stuff.  Supposedly, this stuff will kill the entire colony.

Does anyone else have any experience with this stuff, or better suggestions?

I'd use fire.

Combat Ant Gel

Be patient.  Put it across their lines of march.  They will walk into it, get stuck and die.  Others will carry off the dead to be consumed in the hive, poisoning the rest and killing the hive.  Takes a day or two and you may need to use it more than once particularly if the come from more than one nest.

We have an annual problem with nests right near our front door and it works great.

Put a thick line of pepper down. They hate pepper and love cinnamon

Terros work great. You'll see a ton of them come to the trap for the next day or two then they will disappear for good.

I used to get an annual ant invasion at my old place and terros took care of them within a few days.

wonder if the ant gel works better than terro
I've used terro a ton before, works good on some ants, not so good on others.

Sucra.  Any artificial sugar.  Originally designed for an ant poison.  They take the granules back to the young and eggs and kills the whole colony.  Only takes a teaspoon or so.  I use it  all over the property.   Works well

I've tried both... They work equally well, but Terro is a lot easier it use..

Cyonara and Cykick.

That's what I use for pest control at home.  Very easy to apply with a cheap tank sprayer.

It hasn't killed me, the kid, or the dogs.

Terro has always worked for me. takes time as they bring it back to the nest to feast...

You need to ID the ants before you spray.  If you're spraying Pharoah ants, you're compounding the problem, not helping.

Stick a few on a piece of tape and take it to a Do It Yourself pestcontrol place.  They'll ID them for you and recommend a solution.

Mix up your own. Equal parts corn meal, sugar and Borax powder. The sugar ants go for the sugar, grease ants(2 seperate breeds)go for the corn meal. When they carry it back to the colony, the Borax scratches their exoskeleton causing them to dehydrate. No shit.

No more ants!  I'm going to leave the baits out for a few more days, but there is NO ant activity at all.  I'm impressed.

If they come back, or if you run into a group you can't get rid of, order Advance 375A.  It'll kill every ant in your house, and the rest of the neighborhood also.
